ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
NL Health Services – Western Zone is seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant to join the Anesthesia team at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a staff Anesthesiologist, supporting the delivery of comprehensive anesthetic services to surgical and procedural patients. Western Memorial Regional Hospital is a newly constructed, state-of-the-art acute care facility that opened in June 2024. The hospital serves as a 164-bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland, delivering a broad range of secondary and select tertiary services to a population of approximately 80,000 residents.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Eligible for licensure as a Clinical Assistant with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (
- Must satisfy privileging and credentialing requirements of NL Health Services Western Zone including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
- Experience or interest in Anesthesia considered a strong asset

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct and indirect patient care within the Anesthesia program under the supervision of a staff Anesthesiologist
- Assist with pre-operative assessments and post-operative care
- Provide anesthetic support across a range of surgical specialties and procedural areas
- Participate in after-hours, weekend, and statutory holiday on-call coverage as assigned
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary Anesthesia and Surgical Services team
- Perform other clinical duties within the scope and qualifications of the Clinical Assistant licence
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
