Senior Enterprise Architect

On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is seeking a Senior Enterprise Architect to offer strategic and technical leadership across the enterprise architecture landscape. This role is accountable for defining and governing the future-state architecture across business, data, application, security, and infrastructure domains, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and modernization efforts.

• Project and solution architecture reviews and recommendations

• Governance artifacts for ARB and enterprise intake
• Risk and dependency assessments across initiatives

Qualifications

Education and Certifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Enterprise architecture certification (e.g., TOGAF or equivalent) preferred
• Cloud architecture certification (Azure, AWS, or equivalent) considered an asset

Experience

• 10+ years of progressive experience in IT, with significant experience in enterprise architecture or senior architecture roles
• Demonstrated experience developing enterprise architecture strategies, target-state models, and multi-year roadmaps
• Experience leading or supporting large-scale modernization initiatives, including infrastructure, cloud, or digital transformation

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture Leadership

• Define and maintain enterprise archithe organization's tecture strategy, principles, and target-state architecture across business, data, application, and technology domains
• Develop and maintain multi-year architecture roadmaps aligned to departmental and enterprise priorities
• Provide oversight and direction to solution, data, network, security, and systems architects across the organization to ensure consistency and alignment with enterprise architecture standards and objectives
• Review, validate, and guide architectural designs and deliverables produced by other architects, ensuring quality, integration, and adherence to approved patterns and governance frameworks
• Mentor and support architecture and technical resources to strengthen enterprise architecture capability within IM/IT
• Ensure alignment between IT investments, business objectives, and long-term modernization goals
• Evaluate current-state environments and identify opportunities for rationalization, modernization, and consolidation

Infrastructure and Network Architecture Oversight

• Provide strategic direction for WAN, LAN, MAN, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure environments
• Lead architecture for major infrastructure initiatives, including fibre expansion, satellite connectivity, and cloud transformation
• Ensure solutions are optimized for remote and bandwidth-constrained environments

Governance, Standards, and Architecture Review

• Lead or support Architecture Review Board processes and enterprise intake governance
• Establish and enforce architecture standards, patterns, and reference architectures
• Review and approve solution designs to ensure compliance with enterprise architecture principles
• Provide architectural guidance during project intake, business case development, and funding approvals

Project and Program Support

• Act as the senior technical authority for enterprise-level projects and initiatives
• Support development of business cases, cost models, and funding submissions
• Identify cross-project dependencies, risks, and integration requirements
• Guide solution architects and technical teams to ensure consistency and alignment

Cloud, Data, and Digital Transformation

• Lead enterprise architecture for cloud adoption, hybrid infrastructure, and modern digital platforms
• Define integration patterns, data architectures, and interoperability standards
• Support modernization of legacy systems and transition to cloud-based and SaaS solutions
• Ensure alignment with cybersecurity, privacy, and data governance requirements

Vendor and Procurement Support

• Provide architectural input into procurement strategies, RFP development, and evaluation processes
• Ensure vendor solutions align with GN architecture standards and long-term direction
• Manage relationships with key vendors and technical partners to support enterprise initiatives

Risk, Performance, and Optimization

• Identify and assess architectural risks, including technical debt, security exposure, and scalability limitations
• Ensure solutions balance performance, cost, and maintainability
• Promote reuse of architecture patterns, services, and shared capabilities across the organization

Stakeholder Engagement and Advisory

• Provide strategic advisory services to CCIO, Directors, and senior leadership
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes for decision-makers
• Facilitate cross-departmental alignment on enterprise initiatives
