The Muriel McQueen Fergusson Centre for Family Violence Research (MMFC) fosters collaborative, action-oriented, and community-based research on family and gender-based violence. We share research findings with a range of stakeholders and the public to raise awareness and affect social change. We offer education opportunities such as the Certificate in Family Violence Issues (C—FVI) and professional development training programs that are tailored to the needs of professionals working with survivors of family violence and people who do harm.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 7:45 am - 4:00 pm | 36.25 hours per week (Summer Hours)

Salary Range: $86,606- $118,035 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director of MMFC, the Associate Director works collaboratively with the Director, Administrative Coordinator, Communications Officer, community organizations, and students to support the functions of the MMFC.

• Foster community partnerships that inform research, education, and knowledge sharing.
• Participate on research teams and projects, serve on community and government committees, and attend family violence related events, workshops, conferences, and training opportunities.
• Oversee MMFC operations including budgeting, management of accounts, disbursement of funds, drafting funding applications, and student supervision.
• Organize and coordinate the delivery of professional development training programs, in-person and via webinar.
• Organize and participate in knowledge sharing activities to government, community, and other stakeholders.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Master's degree in a social service-related discipline (gender and women's studies, sociology, social work, education, family studies, criminology, psychology, etc.) or a Bachelor's degree in one of these disciplines with at least five years of related work experience.
• Five years of demonstrated ability to network and collaborate on projects with community partners is required.

Additional Strengths

• Experience working in cross-sector contexts.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Familiarity with university research processes and family violence stakeholders or community-based service providers.
• Strong computer skills, experience using MS Office 365, online meeting software (Zoom, Teams), and enterprise computing system such as Colleague.
• Basic accounting and financial management skills.
• Ability to work in English and French, (written and orally in one and orally in the other).
