We are looking for an Automotive (Mechatronics or Electronics) Mechanical Product Development Engineer.

This position reports to the Product Development Manager who heads the Research & Development Department and works 7:30AM to 5:00PM, Monday to Friday (with every 2nd weekend as a 3-day weekend).

As a Automotive Mechanical Product Development Engineer, your role includes:

• Apply accepted engineering principals to develop designs according to specifications and within project constraints;
• Produce high quality engineering documentation in the form of drawings, reports and SOPs;
• Research and evaluate specifications, vendor products, and outside services to establish designs and ensure that meet all requirements;
• Perform project management duties such as liaising with the sales group to assist in defining the project scope, cost and schedule estimates, and quality requirements;
• Log costs and monitor project performance against set budgets;
• Provide engineering support to internal staff and support the production departments with technical challenges;
• Use advanced tools to reverse engineer and design functional assemblies and components;
• Design functional parts and assemblies in Solidworks, analyze FMEA in Simulation and report in Microsoft Office applications;
• Perform a portion of quality control/assurance on incoming products and finish goods;
• Spearhead medium sized projects from multiple disciplines and different departments;
• Install and test fit prototype or production pieces to ensure compatibility with goals and standards;
• Ensure that designs are technically and commercially viable and can be reliably manufactured within cost targets;
• Actively creates clear and concise SOPs and instruction manuals to establish standard training and mentoring practices; &
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What We Look For:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering (or equivalent qualification);
• A strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine powertrain systems;
• Along with your 3-5 years' experience and diverse knowledge of engineering principles, you will have a strong competency in;

i) Solidworks modelling and drawing creation;

ii) Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude, preferably in an automotive background;

iii) Advanced problem-solving skills including groups

iv) Microsoft Word and Excel

v) Good English communication skills both spoken and written
