Quality Assurance Advisor

Quality Assurance Advisor (4–6 Month Contract | Calgary | Travel Required)

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Advisor for a 4–6 month contract starting immediately. This role provides QA oversight, supplier quality management, and technical support to projects and operations. The position is Calgary‑based with frequent travel to fabrication shops and facilities across Alberta and Western Canada.

Role Overview

The Quality Assurance Advisor is responsible for delivering effective QA support across projects and operations, ensuring equipment, materials, and supplier deliverables meet technical, regulatory, and safety requirements. The role combines corporate QA governance with hands‑on shop QA/QC oversight , including vendor inspections.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Governance

• Promote and model adherence to corporate QA requirements and industry standards.
• Support internal teams and suppliers in understanding and applying QA expectations.
• Ensure suppliers and third‑party inspectors meet contractual and technical obligations.
• Contribute to developing QA capability across project and operational teams.

Project & Operational Support

• Provide QA oversight to project teams, engineering, operations, and supply chain.
• Review and contribute to technical specifications, standards, and QA documentation.
• Support quality requirements for facility operations, maintenance, and engineering.
• Identify supplier quality gaps and support corrective actions and improvement plans.

Supplier Quality & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct shop visits, walk‑arounds, and inspections with a focus on safety and quality.
• Support risk identification and mitigation at both site and vendor locations.
• Maintain and update the approved supplier list; liaise with supplier qualification systems.

Continuous Improvement

• Gather feedback from sites and suppliers to refine QA processes, standards, and guidelines.
• Support audits, pre‑qualification reviews, and performance assessments of suppliers and contractors.

Scope & Working Relationships

This role interfaces with:

• Project management, engineering, operations, supply chain, construction management, and technical services teams
• Third‑party inspectors, inspection agencies, suppliers, contractors, and fabrication shops
• Internal QA and compliance personnel

The Advisor supports QA requirements across projects, MOCs, supplier oversight, and documentation turnover.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Mechanical, Welding, Metallurgy, or related discipline (CET‑eligible or willing to obtain).
• Strong understanding of QA principles, compliance monitoring, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with shop QA/QC, vendor surveillance, or fabrication inspection is a strong asset.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
• Ability to mentor third‑party inspectors and collaborate across multiple business units.
• Valid driver’s license; comfortable with winter and off‑highway driving.
