Fredericton Pharmacy Assistant

(Subject to Employment Status may be paid at 8% in lieu of vacation and stat holidays as per CUPE collective agreement article 6.08 (a))

Job Purpose

The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for acquiring, preparing, and distributing medications and pharmaceutical products.

Qualifications

• Recognized post-secondary Pharmacy Assistant training program and Pharmacy Assistant training or experience within the past 24 months or equivalent.
• Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Good work record.

Key Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for:

• Recording and updating medication orders
• Preparing and labelling pharmaceutical products including sterile and oncology admixtures
• Packaging drugs for dispensing and preparing bulk solutions and other compounds
• Delivering drugs to patient care areas
• Controlling and maintaining pharmaceutical inventory
• Ordering and receiving pharmaceutical products and supplies
