Senior Technician, Sample Management

About The Role

The Senior Technician performs all sample management tasks autonomously and is responsible for general activities for one or multiple Sample Management groups, including sample reception, service request, disposal or shipment, storage equipment organization/optimization, support for lab tasks coordination and priorities, and coaching and training new technicians.

What You'll Do Here

• Storage equipment inventory, organization, transfers between storage equipment & optimization.
• Coach and train new technicians.
• Participate in training and process improvements.
• Support Technician I and II during complex tasks.
• Generate Watson study material reports.
• Act as a back‑up for technicians in other Sample Management teams (inter‑teams).
• Manipulate Containment Level 2/cytotoxic study material.
• Support technicians for completion of forms and documentation through Sample Management groups in accordance with GDP.
• Conduct laboratory investigation.
• Conduct complex study sample disposal.
• Plan shipment to Montreal Clinic Storage facility.
• Prepare forms and reports for sample shipment to sponsor.
• Store and maintain Study Material inventory.
• Perform all work in compliance with SOPs, GLPs, GCPs and observe all company guidelines and policies.
• Perform any other task as required.

Reception Team Responsibilities

• Document completed tasks with minimum supervision.
• Assist coaching of Technician I, Sample Management.
• Work autonomously in all primary reception tasks (inventory, check‑in, report generation, Watson transaction…).

Service Team Responsibilities

• Manage complex requests/studies physically and in Watson LIMS.
• Discard analytical samples.
• Manage cryogenic study material service request for analytical, study samples & biological matrices.
• Inventory new analytical material.
• Prepare request.
• Store & service reference standard material.

Destruction/Shipment Team Responsibilities

• Conduct sample disposal for complex studies.
• Plan shipment to Montreal Clinic Storage facility.
• Prepare forms and reports for sample shipment to sponsor.

What You'll Need to Succeed

• Diploma of College Studies or BSc with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of FDA‑GLP, GCP and TPD regulation is an asset.
• Experience in the medical or pharmaceutical field is an asset.
• Knowledge of Watson LIMS is an asset.
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
• Knowledge in SharePoint Office 365 and PowerBI is an asset.
• Good organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
• Attentive to details.
• Customer‑focused.
• Good communication.
• Works well within a team.
• Software: MS Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Watson LIMS.
