Nanny Wanted - Seeking School Aftercare For Boys 6 And 9, Plus Housekeeping And Meal Prep. Pt 20 25 Hours/Week In Riverdale, Pm Mon Thurs.

We have two boys currently going into grade 1 (born 2020) and grade 4 (born 2017), and are looking for a long-term caregiver who can come in the afternoon (between noon and 1) and stay until early evening (between 5 and 6 - we would prefer 6), Mondays through Thursdays, beginning September 2026. The role is roughly split between light housekeeping and childcare. Your approximate schedule Mondays through Thursdays would look like the following:

• 2-3 hours of housekeeping (mostly laundry and tidying. Note: we have a housecleaner who comes once a week)
• pick up kids from school at 3:15 (3-4 days a week. One other day they may have an activity, which would extend housekeeping and possible meal prep, as you would not need to pick them up)
• supervise kiddo play time inside/outside, provide a snack, supervise light kiddos chores (eg. set table for dinner)

The school is within walking distance (~10 minutes), and we can arrange access to our car during inclement weather if you have a driver’s license. We are connected to our community and our kids may also have intermittent play dates at our house and in the neighbourhood. We may ask for additional help when one or both of the kids is home sick and parents need to be working. We also may ask for in-home kiddo and/or pet-sitting if we are both away (which is not common). Note: summer break schedule to be discussed, however we will guarantee you minimum hours consistent with the above schedule. Candidate Description: For childcare: our ideal candidate is someone who is above all, focussed on our children’s well-being and development into being *kind and caring people*. We seek someone who our children will not only like, but love, and view as an important adult in their trusted circle of helping to guide them through this formative time in their lives. Early childhood education training and/or related training/experience as well as experience with high-functioning neurodivergent children would be optimal, however we are not looking for anyone to design or implement formal programming. For housekeeping: our largest challenge is keeping on top of doing/folding/putting away kiddo and house laundry (eg sheets and towels). There are also almost always tidying and unpacking to do between grocery deliveries, amazon deliveries, kiddo toys and books and activities around, etc. About Our Family: We have a busy household. Both our children are affectionate, independent, curious, and high-energy. They both also love the outdoors and creative play. Both children are highly intelligent and capable kids. Our oldest is neurodivergent (has been assessed), and our youngest has not yet been assessed but may also be. Our parenting style focuses on developing our children’s sense of empathy and care for others, providing them boundaries with space to explore, and helping them discover who they are as individuals and how they effectively navigate the world. We believe in boundaries and natural consequences, but we do not believe in harsh discipline or shaming our children. One of us works at home in a separate floor office most days, and the other has hybrid work. Though we are busy professionals, we try to rely minimally on screen time during the week, and instead use free and pretend play (indoor and outdoors), and focussed activities such as art, books and puzzles, and building tools. Our house has art and building supplies, and a large library of books and toys. We have two large and friendly dogs, who are low maintenance (i.e. walking them is NOT part of the job), but want to be part of the household and will almost always be close by.
