Parts Purchaser

Job Responsibility:

BA Blacktop Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced individual to join our Shop & Equipment team as a Parts Purchaser.

The Parts Purchaser is responsible for purchasing shop materials, parts for heavy-duty equipment, and fleet vehicles. This role includes inventory control, data entry, and coordination of tasks within the shop and equipment department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Parts

• Responsible for ordering, tracking, and receiving parts for the shop (heavy-duty equipment) and fleet.
• Obtain the best prices and availabilities from vendors.
• Create Purchase Orders (POs), receive parts, check order conformity, and validate invoices.
• Pick up parts from vendor locations as required.
• Organize the parts area and propose optimizations based on cost analysis for parts and services.
• Perform monthly inventory checks.
• Ensure the cost on the packing slip matches the PO upon receipt of materials and invoice.
• Return unused and wrong parts to the vendors.

Vehicles (SUVs, Light and Medium Pickup Trucks, Utility Trucks)

• Assist drivers with car and truck services and repairs at dedicated external shops.
• Coordinate with the Shop Foreman for in-house resources for vehicle maintenance.
• Coordinate with the Equipment Clerk for ICBC claims.
• Approve services and repairs based on vehicle history and budget and validate invoices.
• Keep track of vehicle services or repairs in our maintenance program.
• Propose optimizations based on cost analysis.
• Operate a wide variety of vehicles to and from repair places or between office locations when required.
• Prepare maintenance budgets and fleet renewal plans with the Equipment Manager.
• Prepare lease/order requests for vehicles.
• Perform various other tasks as required by the Equipment Department.

General

• Have a strong knowledge of Company Safety Policies and Procedures.
• Ensure that safety procedures in accordance with the company's Safety Policies are being followed.
• Maintain a high level of safety and liability awareness at all times

Essential Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical or equipment parts positions.
• Fleet management experience is a plus.
• Strong communication skills with clients and public
• Strong interpersonal and communication, leadership, and organizational skill
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to read and interpret financial data including balance sheets
• Class 5 driver's license and clean driver's abstract
• Able to lift over 25 lbs and be physically fit

Location: Port Kells

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
