About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior AS400 RPGLE Developer to join our growing technology team. This is a fully remote opportunity for a professional who has strong expertise in RPGLE, CLLE, ILE Concepts, and Free Format RPG development. You will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise AS400/iSeries applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance IBM AS400/iSeries applications.
- Develop solutions using RPGLE, Free Format RPG, CLLE, and ILE concepts .
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Write efficient SQL queries and optimize database performance.
- Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
- Develop and execute unit tests to ensure application quality.
- Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and stakeholders.
- Provide production support and application maintenance.
Required Skills & QualificationsMust-Have Skills
- 6+ years of hands-on experience with RPGLE, CLLE, ILE Free Format RPG development
- 6+ years of experience in application development and maintenance using RPGLE and ILE concepts
- Strong experience with SQL
- Excellent analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills
- Experience performing code reviews
- Experience with unit testing
- Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong team player with collaborative mindset

Qualifications
- Strong expertise in IBM i / AS400 development, including RPGLE, ILE, CLLE, and Free Format RPG.
- Proficiency in related IBM i tools and technologies such as SQL/DB2, DDS, service programs, and APIs.
- Experience with application design, coding, debugging, unit testing, and performance optimization.
- Ability to analyze business requirements, produce clear technical specifications, and document solutions.
- Background in integration with external systems, data migration, and batch/interactive processes.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC), version control, and change management on IBM i.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional and client teams.
- Several years of experience in senior or lead AS400 development roles; consulting experience is an asset.
- Relevant post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
