Youth Development Coordinator (Residential)

Job Responsibility:

Position Type: Full-time, Contract (9 weeks total, 35 hours a week)

Start and End Date: June 30, 2025 - August 24, 2025

Schedule: 11AM to 7PM Tuesday to Saturday

Job Overview:

Reporting to Manager of Supportive Housing Services, the Youth Development Coordinator will engage and support youth in academics, employment and/or volunteer positions for the duration of the summer and create and execute programming. This position encompasses youth engagement and the ability to motivate and support youth's abilities over the summer months.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide constructive and creative informal programming with clients at the residential programs and in the community
• Working with a dedicated case load of clients to keep them engaged throughout the summer
• Provide supportive guidance services and crisis intervention during critical moments
• Ability to implement educational and behavioural interventions
• Encourage and mentor youth to actively participate in summer school and volunteering
• Working in partnership with clients to secure employment and/or volunteer positions with community partners
• Participate in providing healthy and nutritious meals to the youth
• Identify an understanding of the issues homeless youth face and take into consideration the level of knowledge, readiness for change, and other potential contributing factors when providing support
• Recommend appropriate community referrals to the Client Case Manager
• Support youth in accessing services barrier free
• Ensure continuity of care by maintain accurate records, participating in case management, attending staff meetings, and communicating with the Program Manager regularly
• Make certain the site always meets Public Health and WCSS standards
• Participate in cleaning and maintenance of Wyndham House programs
• Cover residential programs as needed by agency
• Provide daily updates about progress with clients and types of programming completed
• Commitment to agency philosophy, values, and objectives

Job Skills and Qualifications:

• Undergraduate Degree in a Social Sciences field is preferred
• Operates from a youth engagement perspective
• Demonstrated current knowledge of best practices when working with youth
• Working experience with marginalized communities
• An empathetic understanding of the sensitivities of youth, especially youth who identify as high needs populations
• Demonstrated strong organizational skills and effective time management is a requirement
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent knowledge of community resources

Requirements:

• Under 30 years of age, at the start of the funded position
• Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred.
• Have a valid SIN
• International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.
• Standard First Aid and CPR-C
• 2x doses of the COVID-19 vaccine
• Must successfully pass a Police Check - VSS
• Valid G Driver's License and 2-million-dollar liability

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contractContract length: 2 months

Pay: $21.50 per hour
