Full-Time/ Part-Time/ Casual Server - Retirement Residence

*Our facility operates within a VCH-regulated environment serving vulnerable older adults. Successful candidates are required to disclose their immunization status for COVID-19, influenza, and other vaccine-preventable diseases as part of onboarding. Unvaccinated staff may be subject to additional infection control measures, including masking or modified duties, during outbreak situations.*

Currently, We are currently hiring Full-Time/ Part-time/ Causal Server to join the Dining Services Team at OPAL. The position details and schedule are as follows:

Full-Time Server

• at least 30 hours per week, weekend is needed

Part-Time Server 

• at least 24 hours per week, weekend is needed

Casual Server

• shift pick up depends on the operational needs and your availbility

Available Schedules

FT – IL | 30.5 hours/week

1. Sun: 4:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.
2. Wed: 7:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
3. Thu: 7:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
4. Fri: 7:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
5. Sat: 4:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.

PT1 | 27 hours/week

1. Sun: LC 3:00–7:00 p.m.
2. Mon: IL 7:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
3. Tue: LC 3:00–7:00 p.m.
4. Thu: LC 3:00–7:00 p.m.
5. Fri: IL 7:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

PT2 – IL | 27 hours/week

1. Sun: 7:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
2. Mon: 4:30–8:30 p.m.
3. Wed: 4:30–8:30 p.m.
4. Thu: 7:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
5. Sat: 4:30–8:30 p.m.

PT3 | 24 hours/week

1. Sun: LC 4:00–8:00 p.m.
2. Wed: LC 3:00–7:00 p.m.
3. Thu: IL 11:15 a.m.–7:15 p.m.
4. Fri: LC 3:00–7:00 p.m.
5. Sat: LC 3:00–7:00 p.m.

PT4 | 24 hours/week

1. Mon: LC 3:00–7:00 p.m.
2. Tue: LC 4:00–8:00 p.m.
3. Wed: IL 11:15 a.m.–7:15 p.m.
4. Fri: LC 4:00–8:00 p.m.
5. Sat: LC 4:00–8:00 p.m.

PT5 – LC | 24 hours/week

1. Sun: 8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

5. Sat: 8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

PT6 – IL | 26.5 hours/week

1. Wed: 7:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

4. Sat: 7:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

YOUR ROLE

As a Server, you’ll be responsible for providing an exceptional dining experience to all residents and guests by being thoroughly knowledgeable about the menu and by facilitating genuine connections with them.

Ensuring that all guest’s needs are taken into consideration and that they are treated in a caring and professional manner is an integral part of this role.

YOUR ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Take food orders and serving residents and guests specific meals or beverages
• Perform fine dining services and related activities in a professional and courteous manner
• Describe the selection of food and beverage menu items by offering interesting and vivid descriptions of each item’s taste and prep methods
• Coordinate food timings and transporting items to the guest table in a timely manner to ensure proper food quality and dining experience
• Work in a flexible schedule including days, evening, weekends and public holidays
• Process orders using POS system
• Accurately close guest cheques and processing cash and card payment
• Breakdown, clean and set-up furniture, buffets, and food stations
• Comply with all public health regulations
• Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Hospitality

YOUR CAPABILITIES

Education:

• High school diploma or GED
• Food Safe Level 1 Certificate (required)
• Serve It Right Certification (required)

Experience:

• One (1) year of serving or hosting experience
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multitask
• Experience with POS and payment systems would be an asset
• Skills:
• Written and oral communication skills in English. Being multilingual is an asset
• Mandarin and Cantonese are considered an asset
