Caregiver / Home Share Provider - Comox Valley

Well Compensated | Meaningful Work | Generous Time Off We are a small, family-led nonprofit seeking an exceptional caregiver for a middle-aged woman with a developmental disability in the Comox Valley. The woman we support uses a walker indoors and a wheelchair when out in the community. We are looking for someone professional, caring and capable who can provide her with a safe, welcoming home and help her live a full, active and enjoyable life. This is a well-compensated independent contractor position in which the individual would move into and share your home. It is a unique opportunity for someone who wants meaningful work while working from their own home. This arrangement is called a Home Share. A Role With Balance She attends a day program Monday through Friday and also has regular respite weekends, where she stays with another care provider. This gives the home share provider regular personal time and breaks from caregiving responsibilities. We are looking for someone who can make this their primary professional commitment. The position requires flexibility and availability and would not suit someone maintaining another regular job. We’re Looking for Someone Who Is:

• Professional, dependable and highly organized
• Warm, caring, patient and genuinely enjoys working with people
• Physically able to safely assist with mobility and day-to-day care
• An excellent communicator and comfortable using a computer
• Independent, confident and able to make sound decisions
• Able to work collaboratively with family and a support team
• Comfortable managing appointments, schedules, forms and documentation
• Able to provide a suitable level-entry home (or 1–2 steps) in the Comox Valley
• A licensed driver with a reliable four-door vehicle

Relevant caregiving experience is required. Experience in disability support is strongly preferred; however, backgrounds in healthcare, home care, senior care, nursing or a related field will also be considered.
