ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services – Western Zone is seeking a permanent full-time salaried Hospitalist Physician to provide inpatient coverage at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, NL. The Hospitalist is accountable for the effective and efficient provision of medical care to patients at this site.

Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital is a 44-bed acute care hospital offering 24-hour emergency room services and predominantly General Surgery lists, with surgical services being expanded. Procedural Chronic Pain clinics are run weekly. The hospital is located approximately one hour's drive from Corner Brook where Western Memorial Regional Hospital is located — a newly constructed, state-of-the-art 164-bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland serving a population of approximately 80,000 residents.

NL Health Services is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, and academic interests are encouraged and supported.

Work Environment

Stephenville is located in scenic Bay St. George with a population of approximately 7,200 and serves as the service centre for a catchment area of approximately 25,000 people. The community offers state-of-the-art recreational facilities including the Regional Aquatic Centre, Stephenville Dome, West Coast Training Centre, Whaleback Nordic Cross Country Ski Trails, Caribou Curling Club, and the 18-hole Harmon Seaside Links Golf Course. Stephenville offers a thriving education system including the provincial headquarters of the College of the North Atlantic. The Regional Airport in Deer Lake is approximately 1.5 hours away. QUALIFICATIONS

• Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
• Eligible for licensure as a Family Physician with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (
• Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services Western Zone's Discipline of Family Practice including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide effective and efficient inpatient medical care to patients at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital
• Provide on-call coverage as required
• Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team
• Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

REMUNERATION

As per Memorandum of Agreement

Step assignment determined by the Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines, with yearly progression thereafter. An annual Retention Bonus is offered in accordance with the current MOA.
