Job Title: Senior Backend Developer (TypeScript & PostgreSQL) Location: Remote – Anywhere in Canada Contract Duration: 45 days (with potential extension) Hours per Week: 40 Start Date: ASAP Reason for Opening: New project need Interview Process: One round with hiring manager and Alten representative About the Role: Alten is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join our team and contribute to the development of a robust backend service. This is a short-term contract with the possibility of extension, ideal for a seasoned developer with deep expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS infrastructure. Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain backend services using TypeScript , Node.js , and PostgreSQL
• Design and implement RESTful APIs with secure authentication (JWT, OAuth)
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests using Jest, Mocha, or Vitest
• Work with ORMs such as Prisma , TypeORM , or Sequelize
• Develop and deploy containerized applications using Docker , ECS , and Fargate
• Architect and manage AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation , CDK , or Terraform
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using CodePipeline , Jenkins , or GitHub Actions
• Monitor and troubleshoot using CloudWatch , X-Ray , and other observability tools
• Ensure compliance with AWS Well-Architected Framework principles

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of backend development experience
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript
• Experience with Node.js and PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with ORMs (Prisma, TypeORM, Sequelize)
• Solid experience in building and securing RESTful APIs
• Strong testing experience (unit and integration)
• Proficiency with Docker and container orchestration
• Deep understanding of AWS core services :

EC2, VPC, Subnets, Route53, Security Groups RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Lambda

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform
• Networking & Security: IAM policies, ALB/NLB, NAT/Transit Gateway, WAF, Shield, TLS/SSL
• DevOps & Observability: CI/CD, CloudWatch, X-Ray
• Architecture: AWS Well-Architected Framework, scalability, high availability, security compliance

Nice to Have:

• Experience with microservices architecture
• Familiarity with GraphQL
• Exposure to Agile methodologies

Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting
