Position Description
We are Canada's largest independent information technology services firm, and at 50 years, we're still growing! Join Canada's largest IT Company as a Senior Java Developer, in our Financial Services Sector in Toronto. Come build High Value Payments with us! We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on a broad range of features.

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office at a minimum 4 days per week subject to change at any time.

Senior Java Developer with experience in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable enterprise applications and distributed data platforms. Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, Python, SQL, Cloud technologies, and Big Data processing. Proven ability to deliver high quality software solutions, optimize system performance, build data pipelines, and collaborate with cross functional teams in Agile environments. Experience working across financial services, healthcare, and enterprise software domains  

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, secure, and high performing enterprise applications.
• Develop and enhance backend services, APIs, and microservices to support business requirements.
• Build responsive and user friendly web applications using modern frontend technologies.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Owners, Quality Engineering teams, and other stakeholders to deliver software solutions.
• Participate in technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and solution planning sessions.
• Develop, optimize, and support data integration, processing, and ETL solutions.
• Ensure application performance, reliability, scalability, and security through continuous improvement and best practices.
• Create and execute unit, integration, and automated testing strategies to maintain software quality.
• Support cloud based deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps initiatives.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.
• Maintain technical documentation, coding standards, and development best practices.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, stand ups, and retrospectives.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, tools, and development practices to improve engineering efficiency.
• Work closely with cross functional teams to deliver projects within agreed timelines, scope, and quality standards.

• Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Redis, NoSQL
• Apache Spark, PySpark, Databricks, Trino, ETL Development
• Azure, AWS, Docker
• Jenkins, Maven, Git, Bitbucket, CI/CD Pipelines
• JUnit, Mockito, RestAssured, Integration Testing, Performance Testing

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with technical and non technical stakeholders.

**CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000–$145,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
