JOB SUMMARY
The Digital Communications Coordinator is responsible for managing OKIB’s digital platforms and ensuring information is shared in a clear, timely, and accessible way. This role supports the Communications team by maintaining the website and Member App, managing social media, and preparing digital content that reflects OKIB priorities, voice, and community.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reports to the Communications & Events Manager, works closely with the Communications team.

RESPONSIBILITES
Digital platforms

• Maintain and update the OKIB website and Member App to ensure information is accurate, current, and easy to access
• Organize and manage digital content to support a clear and consistent user experience
• Apply knowledge of content management systems and basic web coding to support updates and improvements
• Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with service providers when needed

Content distribution

• Publish approved content across the website, Member App, and social media channels
• Prepare and format content for digital use, ensuring consistency and accessibility
• Ensure communications are shared in a timely and coordinated way across all digital platforms

Social media

• Manage OKIB social media accounts, including scheduling posts and maintaining a consistent presence
• Monitor activity and identify items that require follow-up or response
• Support ongoing improvements in how information is shared and received online

Digital publications and content presentation

• Coordinate the layout and preparation of the Senklip newsletter, ensuring content is organized and ready for publication
• Support the presentation of digital materials, including formatting and visual layout
• Create graphics and visual content to support communications and community updates

Planning and coordination

• Maintain a digital content schedule in coordination with the Communications team
• Support the rollout of communications by ensuring content is ready and delivered across digital channels
• Work closely with the Communications team to ensure materials are complete and ready for publishing

Continuous improvement

• Monitor digital platforms and identify opportunities to improve usability, accessibility, and engagement
• Support updates to tools, processes, and platforms to strengthen digital communications

GENERAL DUTIES

• Participates in community events as requested, with the flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events and community initiatives
• All employees of OKIB may be required to assist in the delivery of emergency services. Duties during emergencies may differ from regular responsibilities
• Performs duties in accordance with OKIB policies and procedures

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education

• Diploma or degree in digital communications, web development, communications, or a related field
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Experience

• Maintaining and updating websites using content management systems
• Working with HTML or basic web coding
• Managing social media platforms in a professional setting
• Creating digital content, including graphics and visual materials
• Working effectively with First Nations communities is an asset

CLASSIFICATION/PAY SCALE
$28.20 - $40.00 per hour dependant on education and experience
