Graduate Program Overview

The Risk and Broking Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a non-rotational 17-month program that provides the opportunity to develop a broad knowledge base, varied skills, and diverse network. This program is designed to set you up with a holistic view of R&B with hands-on experience, insight, and opportunities to make an impact and shape your own career.

GDP participants will be immersed in a 1-week orientation followed by a robust onboarding training learning about various functions within R&B. Our program is designed to provide graduates with a well-rounded understanding of the industry while having the opportunity to deep dive within their respective business area.

Placement Overview

WTW’s Placement teams deliver superior results for our clients’ business and risk management needs through deep product and industry expertise. The role of a broker is to help our clients mitigate their total cost of risk. The GDP placement would likely sit either within our Broking team or with Client Service and Delivery. The teams operate as the firm’s intellectual capital where we work with our clients to assess, model, and structure risk. Once modeled, our teams personally escort the clients’ risk into the market and draw upon their market relationships and their negotiation skills to secure quotations from the insurance carriers. While the nature of the work is similar day-to-day, no two placements are the same and common tasks may include: preparing and sending out submissions, liaising with markets, analyzing exposures, working through risk models, and negotiating quotations.

Responsibilities:

• Gather information and analytics to assess and evaluate client risks to support the placement of client risks into the market.

• Create Loss Summaries, review program binders for accuracy, check policies, and aide's brokers & senior brokers as well as Client Advocacy teams

• With the support of more experienced colleagues prepare draft submission documents and finalize submissions for delivery.

• With support of more experienced colleagues review quotes against specifications and develop side-by side comparisons.

• With support of more experienced colleagues prepare program proposals.

• With support of more experienced colleagues, develop client and prospect presentations to secure new, and build on existing, relationships. 

• Assist on any deliverables for Client Renewal Strategy Meetings

• Support RFP process, sales and pipeline needs of the Business Unit

• Research market solutions to learn how to identify and develop optimum risk solutions for clients.

• Carrier and trading partners: participate and build your own relationships with insurance industry partners

• Begin your understanding of core insurance principles and brokerage concepts 

• Ensure that quality and compliance procedures and processes are adhered to incl. Excellence guidelines for client documentation requirements.

• Record and maintain all information accurately on the appropriate systems including RMS filing per excellence guidance, including use of Broking Platform.

• Obtain the required insurance license within ninety (90) days of your date of hire (as such date is recorded in the Company’s business records).

• As applicable, you must also obtain and maintain an active surplus lines license for your resident state within 120 days of either: (a) your date of hire, if you already hold a resident state insurance license upon your date of hire; or (b) within 120 days of obtaining your resident state insurance license, if you do not already hold a resident state insurance license upon your date of hire

• Create, manage, and check certification needs of the Business Unit

• Request, manage and support billing needs of the Business Unit

• Other tasks may be required by the Business Unit

Qualifications

Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3.0 GPA
• Preferred Majors: Risk Management, Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Environmental Geology (BS)
• Date of Graduation between May 2026 – May 2027
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Intermediate to advance Excel skills
• Demonstration of strong time and task management skills 

• Ability to take direction, receive constructive feedback and deliver accurate work product

• Relationship management and customer focus; ability to interface with customers and collaborate internally with teammates to serve customers

Compensation

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is 65,000 CAD -70,000 CAD per year.

This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
