When you join SickKids, you become part of our community. We share a commitment and determination to fulfill our vision of Healthier Children. A Better World .

Don't miss out on the opportunity to work alongside the world's best in paediatric healthcare.

The Hospital for Sick Children (555 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario), a world-renowned paediatric academic health science centre, and the University of Toronto's Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, are seeking a full-time Pathologist to join the Division of Pathology, Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor.

We are seeking a physician who will foster excellence in paediatric pathology practice, teaching and research at the hospital. The qualified applicant shall hold a relevant Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent, and be eligible for medical licensure in the Province of Ontario. While the clinical workload pertains predominantly to pediatric age patients and therefore formal pediatric pathology training is desirable, qualified candidates may be considered without formal paediatric pathology fellowship training if clinical interest is demonstrated. Duties include the delivery of paediatric pathology services in association with other paediatric pathologists in the Division, as it is practiced in Canada, and participating in common divisional functions such as on-call coverage and clinical rounds. Subspecialty interest/expertise in one or more of GI, renal and lung pathology is desired but not an absolute requirement. Excellent opportunities for both independent and collaborative research exist and will be strongly encouraged and supported. A fully accredited residency program is in place and teaching of residents, fellows and medical students is expected. All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD MBBS or equivalent thereto.

The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the uniform minimal level of compensation (UMLC) for laboratory physicians in the province of Ontario. Estimated UMLC is $404,300 inclusive of benefits. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision Care, Life Group Insurance, Disability Insurance, Defined Contribution Pension, and if eligible relocation package. The position provides an excellent opportunity for professional development, collaborative, and individual research with protected academic time.

The Division of Pathology at SickKids has 11 pathologists responsible for providing a comprehensive range of paediatric pathology services, teaching and research. In addition to its active surgical pathology and autopsy services, the Division has specialized facilities and access to state-of-the-art and cutting-edge technologies to conduct advanced diagnostics, including on-site molecular diagnostics, electron microscopy and immunohistochemistry. The Division enjoys close and dynamic interactions with the other Divisions within the Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine (Clinical Biochemistry, Hematopathology, Microbiology and Genome Diagnostics), numerous clinical programs and services, and the SickKids Research Institute in advancing the Hospital's integrated mission of health care, teaching and research for the benefit of children and their families.
