Job Information
The Senior Conservation Areas Advisor works extensively to develop and maintain strong partnerships with staff in Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) departments, Indigenous governments, and Indigenous organizations as well as environmental and industry associations to promote conservation areas initiatives and achieve its goals. The Senior Advisor coordinates the overall implementation of conserved and protected areas and ensures effective working relationships between all involved.
The Senior Conservation Areas Advisor ensures that a wide range of biological, social and/or traditional values and economic values are documented and presented to decisionmakers so that these are fully considered to maximize opportunities from conservation areas for Northwest Territories (NWT) communities and the GNWT. As a result, your actions directly affect the success of the Division as well as Environment and Climate Change's (ECC) ability to conserve NWT biodiversity.
Typically attained by:
A bachelor¿s degree in geography, natural resources management, or parks planning, and at least three (3) years experience related to parks, protected areas or land management.
Equivalencies include:
- A master's degree in geography, natural resources management, or parks planning, and at least one (1) year experience related to parks, protected areas or land management.
- A diploma in geography, natural resources management, or parks planning, and at least five (5) years experience related to parks, protected areas or land management.
