Job Description –

Senior Digital Operations Analyst – Azure/AWS(Heavy in Azure min 80% and AWS 20% )

Are you passionate about designing resilient cloud infrastructure and driving operational excellence? Join our team as a Senior Digital Operations Analyst focused on Azure, where you’ll architect and implement secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions that support critical business operations both on premise (VMware & Azure Local) and in the cloud (Azure & AWS).

• Architect and build highly available and scalable AWS infrastructure utilizing services like EC2, VPC, S3, EBS, EKS, RDS, etc.
• Deep expertise in troubleshooting complex IaaS issues across various services (Networking, Storage, VMs, etc.)
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Design and implement disaster recovery plans for critical AWS resources.
• Monitor and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks for AWS resources.

Key Responsibilities

Architect, design, and deploy Azure-based solutions with a focus on networking, secure resource configuration, cost avoidance and performance optimization.

Collaborate with application support and operations teams to ensure uptime SLAs are met through resilient infrastructure.

Implement with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform HCL, and automate deployments via GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines.

Leverage containerization and serverless compute to modernize workloads and improve scalability as well as reduce costs.

Support and troubleshoot Azure Local and VMware on premise environments and integrate with physical on-premise systems and cloud environments.

Analyze logs, monitor cloud performance, and recommend automation enhancements.

Maintain tracking tools such as ServiceNow and Jira, and optionally use Power BI and Power Automate for reporting and workflow automation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or Technical College diploma.
• 10+ years of IT operations and/or project execution experience, with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure.
• 5–8 years working within the Azure cloud platform.
• 3–5 years of experience with containers (OpenShift or Kubernetes preferred).
• 1–3 years of automation coding experience (Terraform preferred).
• Strong understanding of hybrid networking and data flows to external vendors.
• Proven ability to secure Azure resources and apply best practices in cloud security.
• Familiarity with Windows Server, RHEL, VMware, Azure Local and storage technologies.
• Experience with Ansible YAML is a plus.

Location & Work Details

• Based in our Calgary head office at the Suncor Energy Centre, 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
• Regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
• On-call responsibilities are part of this role.

Job Title: Azure Cloud Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Role Overview: The SRE will be responsible for the reliability, availability, and performance of Azure/AWS PaaS and IaaS workloads. They bridge the gap between development and operations, focusing on building automated systems that prevent failures, managing incident responses, and optimizing cloud costs.

Key Responsibilities

• System Reliability & Monitoring: Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems such as Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.

• Automation & Toil Reduction: Automate repetitive manual operations (toil) such as environment provisioning, system patching, and scaling. Use IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible to manage infrastructure.

• Incident Response & Management: Actively manage incident responses, root cause analysis (RCA), and post-mortem investigations to improve system reliability and minimize mean time to resolution (MTTR).

• Cloud SRE Agent Integration: Deploy and configure Cloud SRE Agent to automate incident investigation, execute remediation steps (restart, scale, rollback), and manage routine tasks.

• Capacity Planning & Scalability: Analyze usage patterns to optimize cloud resources, ensuring high availability and performance while managing costs via Azure Cost Management.

• CI/CD & DevOps Collaboration: Integrate automation workflows into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions or Azure Pipelines) to ensure reliable deployments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Cloud Platforms: Expert knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure services (Compute, Storage, Networking, AKS).

• Scripting & Programming: Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for building automation tools.

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Extensive experience with Terraform and ARM templates/Bicep.

• Observability Tools: Experience with Azure Monitor, Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog.

• Containers & Orchestration: Solid understanding of Kubernetes/AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service).

• Operating Systems: Proficient in Windows/Linux environments.

Typical "Day in the Life" Activities

1. Reviewing Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets.

2. Refining auto-scaling rules for Kubernetes clusters based on traffic trends.

3. Working with developers to review service architecture and ensure fault tolerance.

4. Configuring AI-driven alert suppression to reduce alert fatigue.

5. Creating Azure Dashboards to visualize key performance indicators (KPIs).
