Solutions Architect Contractor
Are you a technically skilled professional with a passion for modernizing legacy systems and designing innovative cloud solutions? Join us as a Solutions Architect Contractor and play a pivotal role in transforming a leading financial services institution's technology landscape. This is a dynamic, collaborative opportunity to influence large-scale modernization efforts, working closely with diverse teams in a flexible, remote environment.
In this role, you'll leverage your extensive technical expertise to assess, design, and implement hybrid on-premises and cloud architectures, ensuring seamless integration and migration to AWS. Your exceptional communication skills and collaborative mindset will be essential as you navigate complex design decisions and deliver comprehensive technical documentation.

Duration : 6 months
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop architecture depictions of hybrid on-premises/cloud environments to support modernization initiatives
- Create and manage a technical backlog of user stories to guide development and migration efforts
- Document N-tiered layers including authentication, caching, and data stores, ensuring clarity and usability
- Assess and design on-premises Java architecture, integrating WebSphere and mainframe systems such as DB2 and VSAM
- Plan and support on-premises to AWS cloud migration, identifying migration patterns and best practices for auth, middleware, and data stores
- Implement serverless patterns and facilitate data migration strategies for legacy system modernization
- Collaborate across teams to make informed design decisions, balancing trade-offs and technical priorities
Required Skills:
- 15+ years of experience in assessing, designing, and implementing modern applications and architectures
- Strong understanding of on-premises Java architecture, including WebSphere and integrations with mainframe, DB2, and VSAM
- Proven experience in on-premises to AWS cloud migration and integration, including migration patterns, serverless architecture, and data migration
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a matrixed environment, working through design decisions and trade-offs with cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
Nice to Have Skills:
- Development or data engineering background, especially with legacy system integrations
- Experience with telemetries, caching strategies, and event-driven patterns
- Familiarity with on-premises middleware and authorization frameworks
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated success in large-scale modernization projects, preferably within financial services
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a focus on deliverables and timelines
