Care Home Manager

OVERALL DESCRIPTION:  

The  Care Home Manager   is  a full -time permanent position. The  Care Home Manager directs all team functions ,   supervises and coordinates the efforts to ensure meeting the service  objectives of the unit and standards set by the  Wabaseemoong Customary Care Code, Service Manuals and  Delivery Model . The  Care Home   Manager is a member of the Management Team.  

DUTIES:  

1. Ensures the provision of  relevant, and competent service to all Wabaseemoong children, youth, and their families (on/off reserve) who  require WCWA  Care Home services.


2. Ensure program services are delivered with excellence and conform to Wabaseemoong Child Welfare Authority’s Customary Care Code, Manuals and Service Delivery Model, policies, procedures, guidelines, and protocols.


3. Develops and maintains an effective team process by scheduling regular team meetings; provides support to team members by advising, planning and coordinating service delivery;
   


4. Ensures supervisory approval for all major service delivery decisions, makes direct service delivery decisions on own or in consultation with the Director of Services and/or Executive Director;
   


5. Provides regular, consistent supervision to team members and keeps comprehensive supervision notes on agreements made and tasks assigned for each team member for performance statistics. 
   


6. Conducts and completes written performance evaluations for all team members and ensures staff who do a good job get appropriate recognition.
   


7. Participates in staff recruitment, orientation, supervision and training.


8. Recommends staff re-assignments, transfers, promotions, demotions, salary changes, position description changes, discipline, leaves of absence and terminations.
   


9. Provides effective discipline for staff and consults with the Director of Service before any major disciplinary action is taken.
   


10. Ensures accurate and timely completion of all required caregiver documentation and recordings.
    


11. Ensures approval of caregiver payments
    


12. Be an active member of the rates committee and propose changes for review and approval to executive team.
    


13. Conducts periodic reviews of all caregiver files;
    


14. Ensures confidentiality of all records and other relevant information;
    


15. Ensures coordination of services with internal and external resources;
    


16. Identifies and provides training opportunities for caregivers in relation to child/youth care and supervision, needs and status.
    


17. Implements change to improve and promote effective administration;
    


18. Approves expenditures within limits set out in policy, including staff expense claims; authorizes and approves staff time off request; and
    


19. Designates and Acting Manager for the team during any period of absence.
    


20. Provides monthly and quarterly narrative and statistical summary reports to the Director of Services on program, caseloads, services rendered, accomplishments, problems, and work plans to correct deficiencies and meet goals.
    


21. Assists in the preparation of the WCWA’s strategic planning.
