Job Overview

The Lead, Line Protection Programs within the Pipeline Integrity group provides technical and people leadership for the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Kingston Midstream’s Line Protection Programs: External Corrosion, Internal Corrosion, Pipeline Depth Monitoring and Geohazard Management Programs. This role is responsible for managing integrity threats across the pipeline system through disciplined risk assessment, inspection planning, data analysis, and mitigation activities. The position works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure integrity risks are identified, prioritized, and addressed in compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and long-range planning objectives.

Position Responsibilities

• Ensure that the Pipeline Integrity Line Protection Management Programs are implemented, continuously improved and maintained in a manner that satisfies regulatory requirements and manages the organization’s exposure to risk of loss of containment events
• Direct the planning, analysis, and development of integrity-related projects and activities required to implement and maintain the Line Protection Programs
• Direct resources as necessary to ensure integrity management plans are adequately scoped for inclusion in the annual budget and long-range planning processes while ensuring application of least cost and fit for purpose principles
• Ensure adequate collaboration with appropriate stakeholders so that the required activities can be conducted safely and in accordance with corporate policies, procedures, standards and applicable regulations.
• Ensure the requirements of the Safety and Loss Management System and the Engineering Professional Practices Management Plan are adhered to
• Recruit, develop, coach, and mentor integrity staff, providing formal and informal feedback aligned with individual development plans and performance goals
• Support development and implementation of pipeline risk assessment methodologies and algorithms used to prioritize integrity risks
• Provide technical leadership and timely support for operational issues, projects, emergency response, and incident investigations, including loss of containment events when required

Working Conditions

This position is based in Calgary and will require regular travel to field offices and operational sites in Southwestern Manitoba, southeastern Saskatchewan and northern Alberta. The role is primarily office-based with some field-based activities, with exposure to outdoor weather conditions, industrial environments, and operational hazards. Occasional on-call or emergency response support may be required outside of regular business hours.

Skills and Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressively responsible working experience in pipeline integrity management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance within the liquids pipeline industry
• Demonstrated experience with a Pipeline Operator, leading internal and external corrosion, pipeline depth of cover and geohazard management programs
• AMPP (NACE) Cathodic Protection Level 2 or higher certification
• Ability to coach, develop, and lead technical professionals
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply disciplined data analysis and consistent risk treatment to complex and uncertain situations
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical requirements and recommendations to diverse stakeholders
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
