Wawanesa is seeking an experienced Vice President, Legal to guide its legal teams from locations such as Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal, or Winnipeg. As a key enterprise leader, you will direct legal service delivery while mentoring legal talent and managing external counsel. The role necessitates a deep understanding of multiple legal disciplines relevant to the insurance and financial sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead Wawanesa's Legal function and operations
• Implement enterprise legal strategies and performance standards
• Provide senior legal advice on various matters
• Oversee external counsel management and budgeting
• Maintain visibility over significant legal issues
Requirements:
• LLB, JD, or equivalent law degree
• Minimum 12 years of professional legal experience
• Proven experience in leading legal teams
• Strong knowledge of corporate, insurance, and regulatory law
• Ability to advise senior leaders effectively
