Accounting Technician - 1yr contract (Edmonton)

This is a one‑year contract position, with the possibility of permanent employment at the end of the contract.

Duties

• Prepare personal income tax returns, sole proprietors, rental schedules, employment expenses
• Prepare corporate tax returns
• Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements
• Prepare compilation, review and audit engagement files, including financial statements
• Make adjustments to client provided information
• Provide full cycle bookkeeping for corporate clients as required
• Prepare GST returns and reconcile GST balances
• Prepare T4's, T5's and T5018 slips
• Communicate with clients to identify discrepancies and missing information

Requirements

• 0 to 3 years recent experience in public practice in Canada
• Experience entering data and reconciling accounts using QuickBooks and Sage 50 accounting programs, with a strong knowledge of related applications
• Experience using Profile tax software, intermediate experience with Microsoft Office
• Experience using Caseware and Jazzit software
• Must have vehicle to do field audits (greater Edmonton area)
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in numerical data entry
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficient in English with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Job Type: Full‑time

Pay: $17.00-$19.00 per hour
