About the Role

Working as part of the Indigenous Relations team and reporting to the Managing Director, the Indigenous Relations Representative will focus on building and maintaining positive relationships with Indigenous communities across a designated region of Canada.

This role is grounded in respect and trust. It involves spending time connecting with community leadership, staff, and organizations to better understand their priorities, economic interests, and long-term goals.

The position also plays an important role in sharing examples of successful partnerships between National Bank and Indigenous communities across the country, helping support collaboration and the exchange of ideas.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people, travelling, and building meaningful relationships that support community development.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Build and maintain respectful relationships with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities within your assigned region
• Connect with community leadership, staff, and economic development teams to better understand their priorities and goals
• Travel to communities and attend meetings, gatherings, and events as appropriate
• Lead presentations and information sessions about National Bank’s services and partnership opportunities
• Listen to community needs and share insights with the Managing Director and Indigenous Relations team
• Share examples of successful partnerships between National Bank and Indigenous communities
• Work with the Managing Director to establish annual goals and priorities
• Take time to learn about the history, culture, and governance structures of the communities you work with

Work Environment

This is a full-time position with flexibility to work remotely or from a National Bank office where available.

Because relationships are built face-to-face, the role involves approximately 50% travel throughout the region to spend time in communities and attend meetings and events. Access to an airport is important.

Your Team

You will be part of a growing Indigenous Relations team and will work closely with the Managing Director, the Indigenous Outreach Manager, and other team members who are committed to building meaningful partnerships with Indigenous communities across Canada.

Training and Support

National Bank will provide training to help you gain a strong understanding of the Bank’s products, services, and priorities. Ongoing support will also be provided by the Managing Director and Indigenous Outreach Manager as programs and initiatives evolve.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome candidates who bring a combination of education, experience, and community knowledge.

You may have:

• A university diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience or knowledge related to finance, economic development, or community development
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to build trust over time
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience presenting to groups, committees, or leadership tables
• Knowledge of Indigenous communities, cultures, and governance structures within your region
