We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Business Intelligence Developer for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a premier engineering capacity within business intelligence, analytics enablement, and enterprise data platform streams, specializing in designing, developing, and optimizing modern reporting and dashboard solutions.

As a principal BI developer, you will bridge the gap between complex enterprise data warehouses and interactive self-serve analytics tools. Operating within a hybrid work model, you will lead the design and modeling of Microsoft Power BI semantic layers, configure deployment pipelines, manage data schemas, and execute report migrations from legacy platforms. This position demands a certified analytics specialist who can transform complex financial, HR, and operational datasets into actionable, high-impact business insights while adhering to established project management standards.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, maintain, and document Microsoft Power BI semantic layers, enterprise data models, interactive dashboards, and executive reports.

Model data structures and build optimized datasets utilizing Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric tools coupled with Azure Synapse and SQL Server environments.

Configure and administer Microsoft Power BI tenant environments, managing security roles and implementing automated deployment pipelines.

Lead report and dashboard migration initiatives transitioning legacy MicroStrategy solutions over to modern Microsoft Power BI platforms.

Support self-serve analytics, dashboards, and reporting streams across enterprise functional domains, including Finance, Payroll, HR, Time and Attendance, and Work Management systems.

Partner with Business Analysts and cross-functional project teams to translate complex business requirements into clear technical specifications.

Support end users through technical assistance, BI tool training, and query optimization guidance to drive platform adoption.

Solve complex data challenges through rigorous analysis, author comprehensive technical documentation according to PMO standards, and provide accurate work estimates.

Qualifications
Core Requirements & Mandatory Criteria
Education: University degree in Computer Science, or equivalent, combined with directly related professional experience in a business or computer-related discipline.

BI Development Tenure: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience working as a Business Intelligence Developer.

Mandatory Certification: Active Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate designation.

Power BI & Cloud Data Depth: Extensive hands-on experience building BI solutions, semantic layers, schemas, and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI in large enterprise environments coupled with Azure Synapse and database services.

Power BI Administration: Direct experience configuring and administering Microsoft Power BI environments and establishing structured deployment pipelines.

Relational Database & SQL: Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server (2019 or later) and a strong understanding of data modeling techniques for interfacing BI platforms with data warehouses.

Preferred Assets & Technical Capabilities
MicroStrategy Experience: MicroStrategy Professional Certification and hands-on experience developing schemas, data cubes, and reports in MicroStrategy (2020 or later) is considered a strong asset.

Accessibility & Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of human rights codes, accessibility standards, and disability accommodation requirements pertaining to digital solutions.
