Looking for a Walking Companion for My Elderly Father

I am looking for a kind, patient, and reliable senior care companion to help my elderly father get outside safely for short walks. This is a part-time, live-out position for someone who can be available in the mornings or around midday, ideally 3 to 5 times per week, with flexibility in scheduling. The main focus of this role is to accompany him on brief walks, usually about 10 minutes at a time, as he gets tired quickly — though he still moves pretty quick. The most important responsibility is to stay close by, support his safety, and help prevent falls. He has difficulty hearing and may not be very conversational, so this role is less about socializing and more about being attentive, supportive, and present. Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with walking
• Staying close and monitoring balance and surroundings
• Helping with his walker when leaving and returning home
• Assisting with outerwear such as hat, jacket, and mitts
• Cleaning the walker wheels after walks

He may occasionally ask for help with a small task during the visit. Comfort with helping in small ways would be appreciated, though this is not essential. Please note that he already has daily support workers for his regular care needs, so this is not a nursing or personal care position. Experience working with seniors, including those with Parkinson’s, would be an asset. No driver’s license is required. I am happy to pay for the full scheduled visit even if the walk itself is shorter than planned. Preferred start date is immediate. This is a part-time role with less than 20 hours per week, and I am happy to discuss the hourly rate with the right person.
