Structural Engineering Intern/co-op

Job Description
Structural Engineering Intern/co‑op to be based in Kitchener, ON. Newly created position.
Responsibilities
- Structural modelling with Midas Civil
- On‑site structure inspections
- Design for municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation
- Shop drawing review
- Inspect all phases of construction to ensure work is carried out in accordance with specifications regarding material requirements, alignment, grade, finish, compaction, etc.
- Document site conditions, equipment, material installations, quantities and the work performed by the Contractor
- Confirm all onsite testing during installation is in conformance with the Contract Specifications
- Ensure deficiencies are corrected prior to acceptance of the work
- Ensure overall data quality and integrity
- Prepare documentation for design projects and reports
- Undertake quality control procedures
- Assure that engineering‑related issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follow up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Candidates must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with the intent to continue attendance following the internship.
- Completed 2 years of study
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in Roads and Bridges
- Previous Bridge Engineering Co‑op experience
- Structural modeling experience
- Field experience
