Project Engineer II

Position Summary:

Poseidon Ocean Systems Ltd. is seeking a Project Engineer II to support the design and integration of innovative aquaculture technology systems. This role will report to the Engineering Manager and work laterally with our product design groups.

This role will collaborate closely with technologists, other engineers, operations teams, and other stakeholders. You will be responsible for creating detailed integration designs for Poseidon technology and technical documentation, commissioning systems, and providing ongoing support throughout the system lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have experience in 3D modeling, drafting for mechanical and electrical systems, system integration, industrial standards, and a familiarity with industrial machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Planning, design, integration and commissioning of systems including the following:
  • Industrial diesel and electric air compressors and air treatment equipment
  • Industrial oxygen concentrators and oxygen systems
  • Pneumatic/hydraulic pressure piping systems including air, water, diesel, and oil conveyance
  • Ocean-borne barges and similar assets
  • Electrical and IT infrastructure high-level planning
  • Generators and associated equipment
• Design of individual components to support the above systems as required.
• Create and modify designs and drawings using AutoCAD Plant 3D, SolidWorks CAD and SolidWorks PDM, and other CAD packages as required.
• Prepare and maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials), manufacturing documentation, and other forms of technical documentation relating to system installations.
• Work with Poseidon's construction teams, Poseidon's project management resources, and outside contractors to ensure projects meet client requirements, industry regulations, and our company standards.
• Assist in troubleshooting implementation and fabrication issues.
• Identify opportunities to enhance design efficiency, reduce costs, and improve performance.
• Participate in design reviews and provide feedback for system development improvements.
• Support additional design, documentation, and technical tasks as required.
• Travel to client facilities and client support in equipment/system trials.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 4+ years of relevant experience in mechanical system design and drafting.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng) or eligible for registration in Canada.
• Proficiency with and ability to learn CAD packages.
• Strong understanding of materials, mechanical components, and system integration challenges.
• Familiarity with and willingness to learn electrical and IT infrastructure planning to ensure our equipment is adequately supported on customer sites.
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, technical specifications, and client requirements.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with engineers, production teams, and clients.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Organized, self-motivated, and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.

Additional Qualifications:

• Familiarity with any of the systems listed for “Planning, design and commissioning of systems” as a key responsibility.
• Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, SolidWorks CAD and SolidWorks PDM.
• Knowledge of welding processes and design of welded connections.
• Familiarity with TSBC regulations concerning pressure vessels, pressure piping, and electrical installations.
• Familiarity with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO) relating to the construction of industrial machinery and systems.
• Experience operating in or designing for a marine environment.
