Century Downs Racetrack and Casino is looking for a Sales and Event Manager to join our team.

The Sales and Events Manager will:

Create an atmosphere of excitement . This position will represent the Century brand to a broad base of consumers and corporations increasing sales through effective application and promotion of the facilities, food and beverage and programs. The Sales and Events Manager will provide input and be supported by marketing campaigns that are focused on offering value and communicating the unique experience at Century's properties. You will be responsible for carrying out essential tasks related to sales for events, suites and sponsorships. They will be responsible for the development, oversite, planning, profitability, and overall and overall coordination of events. Communication with several departments will be key to the success of the candidate.

Be a team leader. Provide quality customer service, prepare and administer invoices, arrange sales meetings, aid management staff in proforma reviews and preparation, and oversee events. The successful candidate must be able to undertake administrative functions while providing direction and support to others. Ensures staff performs in compliance with the operating license and as directed, takes actions to enforce gaming regulations. To perform all responsibilities in compliance with various federal, provincial, and local regulations.

Market Recognition. Focus of this position will be to ensure that the company is achieving growth, meeting sales targets by designing, implementing, and successfully managing strategic sales plans that establish, maintain, and expand the company's customer base, while retaining and ensuring a strong presence in the market. The Sales and Events Manager must be an excellent communicator and collaborator with all internal and external stakeholders, who inspires team members to deliver desired results and to promote the company's brand.

This position requires an innovative, self-motivated, creative sales and marketing professional, with a passion, drive, and a ‘hunter' mentality to drive new and incremental sales to achieve exceptional business results. The Sales and Events Manager must have the ability to develop strong customer relationships.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

During Thoroughbred Racing season, due to increased events and suite rental, this position may require a seasonal coordinator. If deemed necessary, the Sales and Events Manager will oversee the coordinator and be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the coordinator. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employee; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employee, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

· Experience and knowledge of the casino industry and gaming rules and regulations

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in marketing is required or equivalent experience. Two (2) or more years of recent and related successful experience in promotions, events, public relations, communications, and sales. Two (2) or more years of related managerial experience. Food and beverage experience would be an asset. Knowledge with computers programs like Excel or Word as well as web-based programs like Ticketmaster.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
