Are you an Optician who enjoys combining technical expertise, patient care, and attention to detail? St. Lawrence Optometry is looking for a motivated Optician to join our optical team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping patients find the right eyewear solutions while also taking an active role in the technical side of optical dispensing, including eyewear ordering, quality control, adjustments, repairs, and working closely with optical laboratories.

About the Role

As an Optician, you will work closely with our doctors, optical team, laboratories, and patients to ensure every pair of eyewear meets our standards for quality, accuracy, comfort, and style.

You'll be involved throughout the eyewear journey — from helping patients understand their options and taking accurate measurements to inspecting finished eyewear and completing final fittings.

What You'll Do

• Assist patients with frame selection based on their prescription, lifestyle, fit, and personal style.
• Educate patients on lens designs, materials, coatings, and other eyewear options.
• Take accurate optical measurements for eyewear orders.
• Process and manage eyewear orders using VisualEyes software.
• Verify prescriptions and ensure orders are accurate before submission.
• Receive and inspect lenses and completed eyewear for quality and accuracy.
• Dispense finished eyewear and ensure proper fit, alignment, and comfort.
• Perform frame adjustments, repairs, and fittings.
• Coordinate with optical laboratories regarding orders, remakes, and timelines.
• Assist with frame and optical inventory management.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Support contact lens-related services as required.
• Provide exceptional patient service throughout the entire optical experience.
• Support the broader clinic team when needed.

Qualifications

• Registered Optician or recent Optician graduate is preferred.
• Previous optical dispensing experience is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of frames, lenses, measurements, adjustments, and repairs is an asset.
• Experience with VisualEyes is considered an asset.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• New graduates looking to build their hands-on optical experience are encouraged to apply.
