Full-time

Your Wayfinders Management Solutions Ltd.

Location: Creston, British Columbia (hybrid) and/or Remote, depending on candidate location

Job type: Full-time, Permanent

Schedule: 40 hours per week

Wage range: $34.00-$44.00/hour, depending on individual education, qualifications, and experience.

Reports to: Communications & Engagement Lead

Lead the stories that shape communities. Build the relationships that create change.

At Your Wayfinders Management Solutions, we believe great communication goes beyond sharing information—it builds trust, strengthens communities, and helps people make better decisions.

We're looking for a Senior Communications & Engagement Specialist to take the lead on our most complex, high-profile projects, setting the standard for strategy, storytelling, and engagement while mentoring the specialists and coordinators around them.

If you're a seasoned communicator who thrives on ownership, enjoys coaching others, and wants to shape how we show up for clients and communities across British Columbia, we'd love to meet you.

About Your Wayfinders

Your Wayfinders provides strategic advisory and project delivery services that help organizations navigate complexity and turn ideas into action, working with Indigenous Nations, governments, non-profits, industry, and communities throughout Western Canada.

Our team specializes in:

  • Strategic Advisory
  • Project Leadership & Delivery
  • Communications & Engagement
  • Organizational Development
  • Governance & Continuous Improvement
  • Human Resources
  • Indigenous Relations

We believe successful projects begin with authentic relationships, thoughtful communication, and a genuine commitment to listening before leading.

As our company grows, so do the opportunities for our team — we create space for people to expand their skills, lead projects, and shape our organization's future.

What You'll Be Doing

As Senior Communications & Engagement Specialist, you'll oversee planning, development, and execution of communications and engagement strategies for complex, multi-interest-holder projects, often serving as Project Lead for specialists, coordinators, and contractors.

Client & Interest-Holder Leadership

  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for key and complex client accounts
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with clients, Indigenous Nations, government representatives, and community partners
  • Set communication standards and provide first-line quality review of junior team members' work
  • Lead copywriting, editing, and formatting of complex deliverables and high-profile client-facing materials

Community Engagement

  • Lead planning, coordination, and delivery of complex or high-profile community engagement activities
  • Oversee logistics for workshops, open houses, and community events, representing the organization at these events
  • Facilitate workshops, focus groups, and public engagement activities, including higher-risk sessions
  • Lead preparation of engagement reports and consultation records, ensuring accuracy and defensibility

Strategic Communications & Storytelling

  • Lead development of communication plans, messaging frameworks, and content strategies
  • Craft and refine messaging that communicates impact and resonates with diverse audiences
  • Set the standard for quality and tone across web, newsletters, social media, and client communications
  • Advise leadership on presentations, reports, and talking points for high-stakes audiences

Digital Engagement & Design

  • Guide execution of social media content and content calendars across assigned projects
  • Design visually compelling reports, infographics, and presentations using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Translate complex or technical information into clear, audience-appropriate visuals

Mentorship & Team Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and quality review to project team members and contractors
  • Contribute to resourcing, workload planning, and process improvements
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture

We're Looking for Someone Who...

You've built a career on strong communications and engagement fundamentals and are ready to lead, setting strategy, mentoring others, and owning outcomes on complex projects.

You'll likely be successful if you have:

  • 7–10 years of experience in communications, marketing, or engagement, including leading strategic programs independently
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, Political Science, Indigenous Studies, Public Administration, Community Development, or a related discipline (an equivalent combination of education, professional training, and progressively responsible experience may be considered)
  • Demonstrated experience leading communication strategy and content plans for complex, multi-interest-holder projects
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or supervising junior communications staff or contractors
  • A strong understanding of inclusive communication practices, accessibility, and culturally appropriate engagement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging senior client and community representatives
  • Training or certification in IAP2 engagement practices, OCAP, or GBA+ is considered a strong asset, as is experience with Indigenous Nations, local governments, or public consultation processes.

Tools You'll Use

We're looking for someone comfortable working with many of the following:

  • Microsoft 365 and SharePoint
  • Canva and Adobe Creative Suite
  • WordPress
  • Mailchimp
  • Social media management platforms
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Smartsheet

Travel

Most work can be completed from our Creston office, your home office, or a hybrid arrangement. Because we work directly with communities and clients across BC, occasional travel (approximately 15–25%) is part of this role, including community meetings and occasional overnight travel within Western Canada.

Why Join Your Wayfinders?

We're building more than a consulting company — a workplace where talented people can do meaningful work, keep learning, and grow their careers.

  • Meaningful Work — help organizations and communities tackle important challenges
  • Leadership & Growth — expand your scope, mentor others, and build toward more formal leadership over time
  • Competitive Compensation — a wage band that reflects your seniority, with room to grow as you take on more
  • Flexibility — flexible hybrid and remote work arrangements that support both our clients and our team
  • Collaboration — join a supportive team that shares knowledge and genuinely enjoys working together

  • Family-friendly schedule – semi-flexible to fit your availability and commitments

  • Enrollment in our group health and dental benefits, supporting physical and mental well-being.

After 6 Months

  • Increasing paid time off (PTO), starting at 2 weeks and growing with tenure
  • Use 10% of paid work hours for approved professional training and development
  • Education support or tuition reimbursement for approved career growth activities
  • Eligibility for discretionary bonuses for meeting personal or team targets
  • Approved leave and earned time off for personal pursuits, travel, or passion projects

After 1 Year

  • Paid wellness days off, supporting wellbeing and work-life balance.

Our Culture

We're looking for someone who shares our values. At Your Wayfinders, we strive to be:

  • Curious and always learning
  • Authentic and relationship-focused
  • Respectful and inclusive
  • Accountable and dependable
  • Adaptable and solutions-oriented

How To Apply

  1. Application: Send us your resume, cover letter, and any requested portfolio examples. You'll receive a confirmation once received.
  2. Screening & Interview: A team member reviews every application. If your background fits, we'll follow up to schedule a conversation, virtually or in person.
  3. References & Offer: For our top candidate(s), we'll request references before extending an offer, keeping the process timely and communicative.

Ready to Make an Impact?

Send us your resume, 2–3 relevant portfolio or work examples, and a cover letter telling us your story and why you're interested in joining Your Wayfinders.
