Lead complex projects that create lasting impact for communities across Western Canada.

At Your Wayfinders Management Solutions, we believe successful projects begin with authentic relationships, thoughtful communication, and a genuine commitment to listening before leading.

We're looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead, deliver, and oversee complex projects and client engagements, providing project-based leadership and coordination to Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and other team members along the way.

If you're an experienced project leader who's equally comfortable managing budgets, mentoring a project team, and building trust with Indigenous Nations, governments, and industry clients, we'd love to meet you.

About Your Wayfinders

Your Wayfinders provides strategic advisory and project delivery services that help organizations navigate complexity and turn ideas into action, working with Indigenous Nations, governments, non-profits, industry, and communities throughout Western Canada.

Our team specializes in:

  • Strategic Advisory
  • Project Leadership & Delivery
  • Communications & Engagement
  • Organizational Development
  • Governance & Continuous Improvement
  • Human Resources
  • Indigenous Relations

We believe successful projects begin with authentic relationships, thoughtful communication, and a genuine commitment to listening before leading.

As our company grows, so do the opportunities for our team — we create space for people to expand their skills, lead projects, and shape our organization's future.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Senior Project Manager, you'll be accountable for high-quality project delivery, strong client relationships, and supporting team members in achieving project outcomes, acting as a senior practitioner and engagement lead rather than a functional manager of the project management team.

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead and oversee complex or high-risk projects through all phases of the project lifecycle
  • Provide senior oversight of project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and change management
  • Ensure projects meet contractual obligations, quality standards, and client expectations
  • Act as a senior representative of the organization with clients, funders, and key interest holders
  • Review and approve core project documentation, including charters, work plans, schedules, and budgets

Team Leadership & Engagement-Based Supervision

  • Provide project-based direction, coordination, and support to Project Managers and Project Coordinators
  • Clarify roles, deliverables, timelines, and expectations within specific projects
  • Offer mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance to support successful project execution
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable project team environment

Financial, Operational & Organizational Support

  • Oversee project financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, invoicing, and reporting
  • Review and approve project timesheets and invoices in accordance with internal controls
  • Lead proposal development, funding opportunities, and business development efforts
  • Support continuous improvement of project management tools, templates, and practices

We’re Looking for Someone Who…

You lead with both structure and empathy, equally comfortable managing a budget, navigating a complex partnership, and coaching a project team through a tight deadline.

You'll likely be successful if you have:

  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in project management, change management, co-management, and/or co-governance, ideally within consulting, community development, government, or Indigenous partnerships
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, Project Management, Communications, Human Resources, Community Development, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Biology, Indigenous Studies, Political Science, Social Sciences, or another relevant discipline. An equivalent combination of education, professional certifications, and progressively responsible experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience building partnerships with Indigenous businesses, community members, governments, and organizations
  • In-depth knowledge of the history and current context of Indigenous groups in British Columbia and other Canadian jurisdictions
  • A PMP certification or equivalent designation
  • Strong facilitation, negotiation, influencing, and presentation skills

Experience delivering Natural Resource Management projects, such as land use planning, stewardship planning, or sustainability strategies for mining, tourism, fisheries, or forestry, is considered a strong asset, as is experience in the social and economic development sectors.

Tools You’ll Use

We're looking for someone comfortable working with many of the following:

  • Microsoft 365 and SharePoint
  • Smartsheet
  • Power BI
  • Canva
  • QuickBooks Workforce
  • Microsoft Teams

Travel

Most work can be completed from our Creston office, your home office, or a hybrid arrangement. Occasional travel to client sites, partner locations, or regional offices (approximately 10–25%) may be required.

  • Adaptable and solutions-oriented
  • Collaborative and supportive

If that sounds like you, you'll fit right in.

Don’t Check Every Box?

That's okay. Research shows that many qualified candidates, particularly women and members of underrepresented groups, are less likely to apply unless they meet nearly every qualification. If you're excited about this role but don't meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We'd love to learn more about your unique experience and what you could bring to our team.

How to Apply

  1. Application: Send us your resume, cover letter, and any requested portfolio examples. You'll receive a confirmation once received.
  2. Screening & Interview: A team member reviews every application. If your background fits, we'll follow up to schedule a conversation, virtually or in person.
  3. References & Offer: For our top candidate(s), we'll request references before extending an offer, keeping the process timely and communicative.

Ready to Make an Impact?

Send us your resume, 2–3 relevant portfolio or work examples, and a cover letter telling us your story and why you're interested in joining Your Wayfinders.
