This role works closely with operations to monitor performance, troubleshoot process issues, lead root cause investigations, and drive optimization efforts. The position also supports MOC, MTA, OPP, risk reviews, regulatory and procedure compliance, turnaround planning, and maintenance of key process engineering documentation, including P&IDs, operating limits, and heat and material balances.What we offer

Five years’ experience in an operating plantBachelor’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or equivalentRegistered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)Prior experience facilitating risk assessment, and hazard and operability studies (HAZOP)Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving recordDon’t have all the qualifications listed? Support the proactive technical monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) and collaborate with operations to ensure that operational targets are met, required corrective actions are communicated and perform effective follow upsIdentify, communicate, and support the troubleshooting of short and long cycle threats within the production unitPerform technical investigations and root cause analysis and provide technical feedback and recommendations to return the plant to normal operation after upsetsPerform required studies, problem definitions, and calculations for plant optimizationDevelop tools to improve both process and equipment monitoring and performance projectionProvide technical support for tasks such as: regulatory reporting, operational procedure reviews, management of change (MOC) execution, risk reviews, bottleneck identification and plant turnaroundsSupport continuous improvement efforts through stewardship of the MOC process among the process engineering disciplineHandle development and maintenance of living process engineering documents and tools such as;
piping and instrumentation diagrams ((P&ID), specs and targets, safe operating limits, and heat and material balanceLocation and other Key Details
You will work out of our Firebag location, which is our largest in situ operation and one of the largest in the world (and located 120 km northeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta)The shift schedule is a 4 days on/3 days off, Monday to Thursday schedule and a 40-hour work weekThis is a Fly-in/Fly-out (FIFO) camp-based position;
