in our T&D Canada business as a Engineer III - Structural. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this position is located in our Vancouver, BC office. If you have a successful track record in heavy industry and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, this is the opportunity for you.
ResponsibilitiesContribute to structural design, technical support and quality assurance/quality control review including calculations, design, design drawing reviews from conceptual level to detailed design for substation facilities, including equipment support structures and footings, transmission towers & poles and control room and indoor GIS switchgear buildingsPerform structural analysis and modeling using industry-standard software such as SAP2000, LPILE, SAFE, and MathCADPreparation and review of detailed design documents including design basis, design reports, design plans, construction specifications, field review plans and reportsReview of vendor documents against specificationsRespond to requests from construction sites and complete project documentation, including as-builts, calculations, and returning data to clientsCoordinate and oversee the development of project resource planning, scope, schedule, and budget for a structural discipline project teamEstablish and maintain professional relationships with our external business partners;
present information andrespond to questions from individual or groups of clientsDirect and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering dataMentor less experienced engineering team membersCollaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery
Minimum QualificationsStructural Engineering Degree from a recognized university along with a Canadian Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.) or the ability to register as a Professional Engineer with EGBC5 - 8 years of structural engineering design experienceExperience with structural design for utility substations, particularly projects for BC Hydro is considered an assetKnowledge of applicable Canadian codes and standards, including Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and CSA standards, as well as North American transmission structure design standardsStrong written and verbal communication skills
