About the role
TheDirectorofMarketingistheVP’srighthand.WheretheVPsetsdirection,thisrolemakesitreal:campaignsthatshipontime,contentthatlandswithatechnicalbuyingcommittee,programsthatgetmeasuredhonestly,andateamthatknowswhat“done”lookslike.Thisisanexecutionleadershiprolewithrealstrategicinput—notacoordinatorseat,andnotaseatwhereyoucanhidebehindstrategydecks.
Youwillbeaccountableforwhetherthemarketingplanactuallyhappens.
What you’ll own:
Executionandoperatingcadence
- Turntheannualandquarterlymarketingplanintoasequenced,resourced,datedoperatingplan—andholdit.
- Runthemarketingoperatingrhythm:planning,standups,launchreadiness,retros.Surfaceslippageearlyratherthanexplainingitlate.
- ActastheVP’sproxyincross-functionalforumswithsales,product,andrevenueoperationswhenneeded.
Demandgenerationandcampaigns
- Ownend-to-endcampaigndeliveryacrosspaid,email,web,events,andpartnerchannels.
- WorkwithsalesandBDRleadershiponpipelinetargets,buyerintentsignalframeworks,andfollow-updiscipline.
- MaintainHubSpotasthesystemofrecord;insistonattributionthatsurvivesscrutiny.
Contentandmessaging
- Directthecontentengine:whitepapers,battlecards,technicalblogs,casestudies,webcopy,andsalesenablement.
- Enforcemessageconsistencyacrossatechnicalproductwithasophisticatedaudience—CISOs,SOCmanagers,securityarchitects,andprocurementallreaddifferentthingsandneeddifferentproof.
- Protecttechnicalaccuracy.Incybersecurity,imprecisemarketingclaimsarefoundoutquicklyandexpensively.
GEOandsearchvisibility
- Owngenerativeengineoptimization(GEO)asafirst-classdiscipline:howD3andMorpheusarerepresented,cited,andrecommendedbyChatGPT,Claude,Perplexity,GoogleAIOverviews,andotherAIanswerengines.
- Buildandmaintainthestructural,schema,andthird-partycitationworkthatdetermineswhetherweappearinAI-generatedanswers—andtrackitwithrealmeasurement,notvibes.
- CoordinateGEOwithtraditionalSEOandanalystrelations,sincethesethreenowfeedeachother.
Analystandthird-partyvisibility
- Supportanalystrelationsprograms(Gartner,Forrester,Omdia,GigaOm,andindependentresearchers):briefingprep,evidencepackages,submissioncycles,andfollow-through.
- Buildtheevidencebase—proofpoints,competitivedisplacementwins,benchmarkdata—thatmakesthird-partyvalidationpossible.
What you bring
Required Experience
- 6+yearsinB2Bmarketing,withmeaningfultimeinthetechnologysector.Cybersecurity,infrastructuresoftware,orenterpriseSaaSpreferred.
- Demonstratedownershipoffull-funnelB2Bprograms,notjustonechannel.
- WorkingfluencyinmodernB2Bmarketingpractice:product-ledandsales-ledmotions,buyerintentdata,ABM,marketingautomation,attributionmodelling,andlifecyclemarketing.
- PracticalGEOexperience.Thisisahardrequirement,notapreference.YouhaveactuallydoneworktoinfluencehowabrandorproductappearsinAI-generatedanswers,youcanexplainyourapproach,andyoucandescribewhatworked,whatdidn’t,andhowyoumeasuredit.Candidateswithouthands-onGEOworkwillnotbeconsidered.
- Strongtechnicalcomprehension.Youcanreadaproductarchitecturedoc,understandit,andtranslateitforsixdifferentpersonaswithoutflatteningitintomush.
- Hands-onproficiencywithHubSpot(orcomparable),analyticstooling,andCMSplatforms.
- Peopleandvendormanagementexperience.
- ExcellentwrittenEnglish.Youwillbeedited,andyouwilleditothers.
