The Opportunity

Uva Wine & Cocktail Bar is downtown Vancouver’s enclave for connoisseurs of wines and spirits seeking a sanctuary that caresses the eye as well as the palate. From the finest charcuterie to artisan cheeses and hard-to-find wine selections to hand-crafted cocktails, indulge in Uva Wine & Cocktail Bar’s cosmopolitan, yet relaxed atmosphere.

We are currently looking for an experienced Barista to join our team. The Barista promotes coffee consumption by educating customers in addition to preparing and serving a variety of coffee/tea drinks, along with pastries and menu items.

6.30 am - 2.30 pm 2 shifts per week. Must be available weekends!

What You’ll Do

• Welcome customers by determining their beverage interests and needs.
• Educate customers by presenting and explaining the drinks menu; answering questions.
• Prepare and sell coffee/tea drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, expresso, latte, and cappuccino, matcha, etc.
• Generate revenues by attracting new customers; defining new and expanded services and products.
• Service in-house guests and takeaway customers.
• Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; maintain supplies, pastries, paninis and unique coffee bar foods.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.

What You Have

· 2+ years of experience in specialty coffee and/or the coffee industry is preferred

• Must be available weekends and early start times (6:30 am- 2:30pm)
• Infectious love of coffee.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player attitude.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving. A high degree of ethics and obsession with superior customer service.
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs regularly.
