The Laundry Aide performs various laundry duties associated with providing residents with the required laundry service. The Laundry Aide assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents visitors and other staff members.
Sorts and separates items to be laundered in accordance with laundering requirements.
Operates automatic washing machines dryers irons and sewing machine.
Hand irons and folds/hangs garments after laundering.
Performs simple mending and repairs.
Transports laundered garments to appropriate floors.
Ensures proper identification of all personal clothing.
Maintains a clean work environment dusting and washing equipment and shelves as required.
Maintains appropriate level of supplies (e.g. soap bleach fabric softener and thread).
Cleans work area upon completion of shift.
Previous experience in a laundry operation is preferred.
Must understand the basics of good laundry techniques/practices.
A minimum of public-school education is required. Grade 12 Diploma preferred.
Must be able to read write and follow oral instructions.
