The opportunity

DoctorCare is hiring a Medical Billing Assistant  to join the Customer Operations team.  As our new Medical Billing Assistant, you will support physicians and Medical Billing Specialists by processing claims, maintaining accurate billing records, and resolving routine billing inquiries. This is an excellent opportunity to build expertise in Ontario medical billing while developing your career. 

This is a role where your attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to build trusted relationships will make a direct impact. You will work with electronic medical records (EMRs), billing systems, and provincial healthcare processes while collaborating with colleagues and customers to resolve questions, identify billing opportunities, and continuously improve how services are delivered. Whether you already have medical billing experience or are eager to build it, you will receive training, coaching, and support from experienced team members as you grow your knowledge of Ontario's healthcare billing landscape.

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Toronto, with an expectation of working in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

How you will make an impact:

• Support billing accuracy. You will review claims for completeness, identify routine discrepancies, escalate complex issues to Medical Billing Specialists, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Deliver an exceptional customer experienc e. You will respond to routine customer questions, gather required information, and coordinate with Medical Billing Specialists to ensure timely issue resolution.
• Identify opportunities to improve outcomes. You will use your analytical skills to investigate billing discrepancies, identify revenue opportunities, and collaborate with internal teams and the Ministry of Health to resolve issues and improve claim outcomes. You will also recommend process improvements that enhance workflows, strengthen service delivery, and continuously improve the experience for both physicians and your colleagues.

• The learning agility. You're curious, adaptable, and excited to learn medical billing, healthcare processes, and new technologies. Previous experience with OHIP billing, EMRs, or medical billing software is an asset but not required.
• The organization and initiative. You can prioritize tasks, stay organized in a fast-paced environment, and take ownership of your work while asking thoughtful questions when needed.
• The collaborative mindset. You enjoy working as part of a supportive team, are open to feedback, and contribute positively to achieving shared goals.

Compensation

The salary for this position is $45K.  The salary will be determined based on several factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and the needs of the organization.
