At Formations Inc., we don't just sell surfacing solutions - we fuel creativity, precision, and service across Canada's design and millwork industry. We're looking for a strategic, driven, people-first Director, Supply Chain to help lead that charge.
The Director, Supply Chain is responsible for overseeing the full supply chain lifecycle - from procurement to forecasting, logistics, inventory, and inter-branch transfers - for both distributed and manufactured products. This is a high-impact leadership role, where strategy meets execution across all operational levels.
You'll build partnerships, empower teams, and create clarity across a fast-paced, evolving environment - all while keeping your eyes on cost optimization, product availability, and customer success.
Reports To: Vice President, Business Development
Direct Reports: Senior Supply Chain Analyst; Supply Chain Analysts; Supply Chain Analyst, Manufacturing; Supply Chain Administrator
What You'll Be Doing:
Driving Alignment & Accountability
Lead the development and execution of national procurement, inventory, and logistics strategies
Align purchasing and forecasting with Formations' strategic business plans and branch market needs
Collaborate with Branch Operations and Marketing to create proactive, data-informed material forecasts by product line and region
Monitor KPIs, track gaps, and identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiencies, and supply resilience
Regularly review and adapt plans based on market conditions, supply chain risks, and business needs
Fueling Growth & Building Relationships
Negotiate contracts, discounts, and service expectations with key suppliers across North America and internationally
Source and onboard new vendors while optimizing existing relationships
Represent Formations in supplier discussions and at industry events to advance competitive positioning
Ensure vendor accountability on cost, quality, delivery, and customer service
Operational Oversight
Oversee logistics, transportation, and inter-branch transfers to optimize costs
Lead efforts to reduce aged inventory and improve warehouse efficiency
Establish and reinforce SOPs for procurement, inventory control, and customs documentation
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using supply chain analytics and forecasting models
Evaluate new technologies to improve visibility, cost control, and operational decision-making
Leading People
- Lead, coach, and develop the SCM team to build accountability, engagement, and performance
- Support talent development, succession planning, and performance management for direct reports
Set clear expectations, recognize success, and address gaps with transparency and accountability.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-first culture and reinforce Formations' values across the network
In an Average Week, You Might...
- Kick off Monday by reviewing forecasts and inventory dashboards, then align with analysts on purchasing actions
- Facilitate your weekly team meeting to check progress, troubleshoot supplier or transport issues, and review KPIs
- Join a vendor negotiation to lock in pricing and delivery schedules for a product launch
- Review inter-branch transfer strategies with operations teams to ensure fulfillment efficiency
- Wrap up Friday preparing for next week tracking progress, flagging risks, and making sure he team has what it needs to stay on track
What You Bring:
- Proven 5+ years experience leading end-to-end supply chain functions - ideally in a B2B, distribution, or manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with compliance requirements, customs documentation, and international sourcing
- Strong leadership instincts - you know when to guide, when to step back, and when to dive in
- A track record of building empowered, accountable teams
- A deep understanding of operational excellence, customer service, and financial performance
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills
- A hands-on leadership style paired with a strategic mindset
