Department Description

Biomedical Engineering

Reporting to the Manager, the Engineering Technician facilitates the deployment, management, planned maintenance and repairs, service contracts, device integration and shipping logistics of mobile Class I Medical Devices. In addition, the Engineering Technician provides support as required to the Biomedical Engineering Technologists. The Engineering Technician works with clinicians, hospital support staff, hospital partners and vendors to ensure that this equipment is safe and available for use by patients and staff to meet the needs of the organization.

Regular Full-Time

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week

Rate of pay: $32.59 per hour - $37.26 per hour

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a two (2) year Engineering Technician diploma (ex. Electromechanical or Mechanical)
• Minimum one (1) year recent, related experience in a hospital or clinical setting or equivalent
• Advanced technical service skills
• Proficient in documentation and recordkeeping skills
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficient Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Censitrac, Aeroscout RTLS, Mobile Device Applications, Asset Enterprise)
• Demonstrated experience working as a flexible, reliable and versatile member of a team
• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and values
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
