Pharmacist I

Alberta Health Services

Are you a motivated and dedicated Pharmacist interested in making a meaningful impact in patient care? AHS is seeking a skilled professional to join our pharmacy team at the Sturgeon Community Hospital. In this role, you will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote the safe, effective, and appropriate use of medications. You will assess patients for medication‑related issues, contribute to comprehensive medication management plans, and help optimize therapeutic outcomes. This hospital‑based position includes participation in patient care rounds, close collaboration with clinical teams, and engagement with patients and families to individualize therapy. Responsibilities include reviewing and verifying medication orders and may also involve checking prepared products such as oral, parenteral, chemotherapeutic, and topical medications. You may assist with special access or investigational drug therapies and support pharmacy operations through mentorship of new staff, precepting students, and providing guidance to Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians. The successful candidate is experienced with computerized medication order entry and drug information systems, works well within diverse teams, and maintains patient confidentiality. Strong critical thinking, time management, and problem‑solving skills are essential, along with a compassionate, patient‑focused approach. Effective English communication and professional accountability are required. The role includes visual and computer work, with occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling. AHS Pharmacy Services offers excellent opportunities for professional growth, continuing education, and career advancement—this is an opportunity to make a difference every day.

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services.
