Business Development Manager – Calgary / Alberta

Location: Calgary, Alberta
Employment Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Industry: B2B Sales, Business Development, Architecture & Design, Building Materials
Hours: Monday to Friday, approximately 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Base Salary: Up to approximately $80,000
Bonus Potential: Up to approximately 35% of base salary
Total Compensation Potential: Up to approximately $108,000

includes travel to Saskatchewan and Manitoba every couple of weeks , potentially involving 1–2 nights in a hotel .

About the Opportunity

Our client is an established industry leader within the architectural, design, and building products sector. They are currently looking for a Business Development Manager .

The successful candidate will represent a well-known brand within the surfaces and building materials industry and will have the opportunity to work on high-profile commercial, residential, multifamily, and development projects.

Position Overview

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing new business, strengthening client relationships, and growing market share within the assigned Alberta territory .

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with architects, interior designers, design firms, builders, commercial clients, and fabricators
  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the architecture, design, building, and construction sectors
  • Drive specification opportunities on commercial, residential, multifamily, and new development projects
  • Deliver product presentations, lunch-and-learns, CEU presentations, and client-facing product knowledge sessions
  • Provide consultative product solutions based on client project needs, design requirements, applications, and budgets
  • Manage Builder Channel accounts and support brand growth within the assigned Alberta territory
  • Develop and maintain a strong project pipeline from prospecting through project completion
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, fabricators, builders, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry conferences, networking events, and learning sessions
  • Maintain accurate CRM activity, client records, pipeline updates, forecasts, and sales reporting
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, project timelines, and new business opportunities
  • Provide samples, literature, and marketing tools to support client relationships and product growth

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • Approximately 3–5+ years of successful B2B outside sales experience
  • Experience selling to or working with architects, interior designers, builders, design firms, fabricators, commercial clients, or construction-related customers
  • Experience within building materials, surfaces, quartz, porcelain, stone, flooring, interiors, construction, architectural products, or related industries is strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to develop new business and build long-term client relationships
  • Experience managing the full sales cycle from prospecting through project completion
  • Ability to deliver client-facing presentations, lunch-and-learns, and networking presentations
  • Strong understanding of architectural and interior design concepts, materials, and industry trends is an asset
  • Proficiency using CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned territory
  • Comfortable with travel to Saskatchewan and Manitoba every couple of weeks, potentially involving 1–2 nights in a hotel
