Sr. Revenue & Pricing Manager– Markham, Ontario

Sr. Revenue & Pricing Manager– Markham, Ontario

Reporting to the Director of Revenue Management, the primary objective of this role is to drive pricing and trade spend optimization to accelerate gross margin, net sales and share. Leveraging data and analytics, you will create strategic recommendations on price and promotion and work with Sales to execute and monitor these plans.

Strengthen the Organization

  • Champion & embed a revenue management mindset across the organization, influencing cross-functional teams to prioritize margin-accretive decision-making and integrate pricing, volume, and mix discipline into day-to-day commercial planning.
  • Active in building strong working relationships with Marketing, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain and Procurement and external partners to create one commercial team focused on executing with excellence.
  • As a member of the team, this position is expected to positively contribute towards increasing the cohesiveness of the group and take personal accountability to help raise its effectiveness.

Partnerships with External Partners

  • It is key for this position to develop and maintain strong relationships with our partners – Nielsen IQ and Salesforce.
  • Utilize the Nielsen IQ Revenue Optimizer to develop pricing and promotion strategies to optimize revenue, profit and share working with the Director, Revenue Management:
  • Create pricing strategies rooted in predictive analytics and price elasticity.
  • Analyze competitor pricing strategies and determine optimal price gaps to competition.
  • Provide national and retailer-specific price and trade promotion direction.
  • Monitor pricing and promotion execution including post-event evaluation.
  • Lead monthly and quarterly business planning and review processes with the Sales team.
  • Lead price increases from analysis to recommendation to execution including sell-in stories for the trade.
  • Manage additional ad-hoc trade investments (Deal Exceptions) to drive incremental gross margin and share.
  • Ensure data integrity in NIQ Optimzer tool (Nielsen data, cost of goods, and customer offers).
  • Develop a yearly pricing matrix by product line.
  • Play a critical role in the end-to-end migration from legacy trade planning system (CAS) to a new platform (Saleforce), partnering cross-functionally to ensure continuity of operations, data integrity, and stakeholder adoption through the transition.
  • Approve customer price plans in our trade and price management system (CAS).
  • Work with Sales and Finance on how the budget is tracking and make recommendations for course correction.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with both internal (Finance, Sales, Sales Planning, Procurement, Customer Service) and external partners (Nielsen IQ).
  • Oversee with the Revenue & Pricing Specialist new products and line extensions relating to master data (internal and Nielsen), price zone maintenance and trade accrual balances.
  • Assist in annual operating plan development.
  • Manage excess inventory product selloffs.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • University degree in Business/Commerce or Economics.
  • 5+ years of Trade Marketing, Revenue Management or Customer Finance experience in the CPG industry. Strong preference for CPG Food / Beverage experience.
  • Proficiency using Nielsen Discover, data management.
  • Previous experience in CAS, SAP, Salesforce COGNOS is ideal.
  • Demonstrated capability of managing pricing and trade spend at a CPG company in Canada.
  • Experience using a trade and price management system (i.e. CAS, SAP, Salesforce preferred).
  • Keen to use data analytics to provide actionable insights, with the ability to make decisions and execute.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian CPG retail landscape, including an understanding of key national and regional players and related price, promotion and profit promotion dynamics.
  • A passion to drive results.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, develop and deliver plans and programs to a successful outcome.
  • Prior experience analyzing, interpreting and presenting Nielsen data insights is a must.
  • Familiar with managing a P&L.
  • An exceptional team player. This is a lean and highly collaborative team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and communication skills.
  • Thinks beyond their immediate role and functional silo to take ownership of the end result.
  • Proven ability in a high pace workplace to effectively achieve results across functions and organizations through collaboration, negotiation and influence.

  • Fluent in English. Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
  • Technical skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel capability.
