Curriculum Researcher (Islamic Studies and Quran Curriculum)

Job Responsibility:

The Curriculum Development Researcher is going to closely support the Islamic Studies and/or Quran curriculum development process in consultation with the Project Committee while ensuring an effective implementation of standard project management processes. We are seeking a skilled and passionate individual that will assist in developing high-quality, engaging, well researched Islamic Studies and Quran Curricula. The candidate is also expected to work closely with Curriculum Developers and the Project Manager to ensure unity of production and meeting deadlines. The successful candidate will be tasked to do the following:

• Assist in designing and developing comprehensive curriculum for Islamic Studies and Quran that adheres to educational standards, Islamic values, and pedagogical best practices;
• Supporting the alignment of curriculum content with MAC's goals, standards, and frameworks;
• Conduct comprehensive research on assigned topics using credible sources, databases, and other academic or professional resources;
• Integrate knowledge, practice, and traditions of Islamic theology into the curriculum strands through the incorporation of Islamic creed, elements of worship, prophetic biographies, and character development;
• Research, review, and organize literature on Islamic and Quranic education in North America;
• In consultation with the Project Committee, design the curriculum outline & deliverables, including objectives of curriculum, the curriculum map, outline;
• Draft, edit, and proofread various types of content, including research reports, articles, white papers, and summaries;
• Create age-appropriate, relevant, and engaging lesson plans, activities, and assessments for various educational levels;
• Assist in developing instructional materials including textbooks, workbooks, multimedia resources, online content, and supplementary materials that support effective teaching of Islamic Studies and Quranic teachings;
• Track and monitor the curriculum development project timeline based on phases that include development of expectations, document editing, advisor review, curriculum piloting, and curriculum evaluation;
• Facilitate meetings with the project advisors to gather feedback, suggestions, and recommendations;
• In consultation with the Project Committee, guide the development process, which includes analysing the collected data, data implications, and status updates;
• Develop data collection tools to inform the development process;
• Contributes to reporting as per project team requirements.

Qualifications:

• A degree in Islamic Studies, Quranic Studies, Education, or a related field (Master's or higher preferred);
• Familiarity with Ontario curriculum;
• Education or work experience in curriculum development or curriculum design is an asset;
• Ability to work within a team, with integrity, enthusiasm, initiative and confidence;
• Excellent communication skills in English;
• Ability to read and write Arabic is an asset;
• Work experience in an Islamic School is considered an asset.
