Subcontracting. Hybrid in Montreal, QC or Toronto, ON or Mississauga, ON (2 days a week onsite).
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Backend Developer with strong expertise in Microservices, TypeScript, and Node.js. The role involves translating architectural visions into robust, scalable, and maintainable code. You will work closely with Solution Architects, contribute to design and implementation of next‑generation solutions, and focus on TypeScript.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and deploy high‑quality backend services and APIs using TypeScript.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects to implement modern architectural patterns such as hexagonal architecture and event‑driven design.
- Write clean, efficient, and well‑documented code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Contribute to the design and development of scalable and resilient systems.
- Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in production and development environments.
- Work with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to deploy and manage services.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation.
- Stay up‑to‑date with emerging backend technologies and trends, especially in the TypeScript ecosystem.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of qualified experience in backend development.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript, including advanced features and type system.
- Hands‑on experience with Node.js and frameworks such as Express or NestJS.
- Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Understanding of modern architectural patterns such as microservices and event‑driven design.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Excellent problem‑solving and debugging skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and practices.
- Experience with containerization technologies Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of asynchronous messaging patterns such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with GraphQL.
- Understanding of DevSecOps principles.
- Familiarity with front‑end technologies for integration purposes.
Key Requirements
- Deep TypeScript Knowledge: Expert‑level understanding of TypeScript and advanced typing patterns.
- Microservices: Proven experience architecting and operating distributed systems at scale.
- Rapid Domain Acquisition: Ability to quickly learn new business concepts and model them effectively.
- Behavior‑Driven Development (BDD): Hands‑on experience using BDD to align code with business requirements.
- Leadership: Capable of mentoring engineers and setting technical standards.
