Senior Counsel for BMO Capital Markets

BMO Capital Markets seeks a Senior Counsel to support its global Commodities business. You'll provide legal advice while ensuring compliance and protecting business interests in trading and regulation. As part of the BMO Legal Team, you will negotiate complex contracts and legal documents related to various commodities transactions. This position requires insights into contract law, OTC derivatives, and inventory finance. Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders to influence strategies and minimize legal risks while driving the growth of capital markets initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver legal advice on commodities transactions
- Draft and negotiate critical legal documentation
- Collaborate on capital markets strategies
- Resolve complex legal issues proactively
- Provide expertise to senior management and stakeholders
- Minimum 7 years of legal experience
- Extensive knowledge in contract law and OTC derivatives
- Proven ability in commercial contract negotiation
- Law degree (LLB or JD) and legal license
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
