Applications Engineer

Job Responsibility:

Position Summary

HongSheng North America is seeking a highly motivated Applications Engineer to lead technical initiatives in solutions development and customer acquisition. As a key liaison between customers and internal teams in both North America and China, the Applications Engineer will work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused thermal management solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of market needs and technical requirements and will play a critical role in product development and business growth strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams in China and Canada to ensure compliance with quality standards such as ISO 9001 , PPAP and VDA 6.3 during new production launches.
• Translate CAD drawings and process workflows from Chinese to English. Maintain and update English versions in the PLM system, ensuring alignment with changes made by the HQ technical team.
• Conduct quality audits and implement corrective actions to maintain compliance and drive process improvements.
• Develop and oversee quality assurance strategies to ensure products meet both customer expectations and industry standards.
• Act as the primary technical contact for customers, identifying opportunities and driving new business acquisition efforts.
• Conduct regular customer visits to gather feedback, market intelligence, and competitor insights.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations to promote products and capabilities.
• Analyze RFQ (Request for Quotation) documents, compile technical specifications, and develop engineering solutions that meet customer requirements.
• Provide engineering estimates, technical justifications, and manage all technical elements of RFQ responses.
• Support the development of 3D/2D models, perform feasibility studies, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize design.
• Facilitate customer-driven design changes and cost reduction efforts; lead internal change implementations.
• Coordinate cross-functional project activities to ensure deliverables align with APQP processes (including DVP&R , DFMEA ).
• Implement customer service processes across pre-sale, in-sale, and post-sale stages.
• Investigate and resolve post-production customer concerns; generate reports and provide recommendations to management.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering required; Master's degree a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the design, simulation, and development of thermal systems, especially bar-plate and finned-tube heat exchangers .
• Experience in automotive thermal systems , battery cooling , or HVAC/heat pump systems is a strong asset.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as welding, molding, aluminum casting, CAB brazing , and stamping is a plus.

Technical Skills:

• CAD software experience (e.g., CATIA V5, UG/NX, SolidWorks, Pro/E, or Creo) preferred.
• CFD simulation experience (e.g., HexSim, ANSYS, Siemens) an asset.
• Knowledge of PPAP , APQP , FMEA , DVP&R , 8D reporting , and general program management.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.

• Bilingual in English and Chinese is highly preferred.
